About this Cook
I am your average American cook who has been cooking for the family since I was 16 years old. I try all kinds of recipes but always use tried and true favorites every other recipe so my family will know they won't starve if they don't like the experiment.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake pies, breads and rolls! It's a good thing that is my husband's favorite thing to eat is bread so we don't get overrun with baked goods. I also enjoy creating meals that have Mexican or Italian influences as they are easy to make, taste great and generally are not too expensive.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love using my grandmother's recipes along with her original pans and utensils. It makes me think of her and all the events that went with the food. I'm glad to be able to share all of this with her great-grandchildren even though she is not on the planet anymore with us.
My cooking triumphs
I made homemade croissants for a Thanksgiving dinner and they were a lot of work. Nothing was greater than having my grandfather, who didn't know what they were, take a bite and say "great rolls" to me at the table. This guy didn't hand out too many compliments.

Taco Bake
Super easy and yummy to boot! I left out the green chilies but added some cumin, cilantro and coriander to make up for it. My uber-picky husband raved about it and asked me to make sure to save this recipe! :)

Sugar Cookie Icing
First time I had real fun decorating sugar cookies! This recipe is super for fine details that need a brush. You will achieve professional results with this frosting.

Quiche
The only extra I added was one chopped scallion. My hubby loved it and it was a breeze to make on a busy week-night. I will make this one again real soon!
