About this Cook
i am an army wife living in germany. my husband and i are both 26 years old. i come on here all the time to find recipes for either my husband and i(im vegetarian, hes not, so its easier if its a recipe i can add meat too after), or for our infamous bbq's! i always try to invite the single soldiers over, since their only food source is snacks, burger king, or popeyes! also, i rock and roll with the best of em!
My favorite things to cook
CASSEROLES! i lovvvve casseroles! i also like to make steak and chicken marinades for my husband. apparantly he and his buds rave about them being the best they ever had, which is awesome because i cant taste it to tell
My favorite family cooking traditions
i dont really have any. i actually prefer to go to family functions and have everything already made for me, hahaha! i never lived with a man until may 2008(thanks to the army and making it difficult), so when i was living alone i didnt really care to cook(even though i know i can real well), and since i have been with my husband here in germany, i cook all the time! but like i said, id prefer it to be made for me. i get my lazy days
My cooking triumphs
guacamole, chicken and steak marinade, cake, muffins, stuffed peppers(half veg, half meat), cheesecake, cheesey potatoes(from a family recipe, not on here), roast beef, vegetable casseroles, green bean casserole, etc... oh and i can kick the out of boxed mac and cheese with my additions! its my lazy day food
My cooking tragedies
um.... one time i made a green bean casserole dish i found on here that asked for soy sauce. i thought it sounded interesting so i tried it. one bite and it was all in the trash. DONNNT DOOO ITTTT

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili
1) forgot the red pepper 2) didn't have cayenne pepper, so i used cajun seasoning and tonys creole... which the hubby actually put in 3) got boullion powder packets by mistake 4) used brown sugar instead of white 5) used a whole can of beer 6) used 2 cans of kidney beans instead of the 3 chili beans 7) store didn't have green chili peppers, so i used 3 red chili peppers 8) used 5 pieces of bacon i cooked and the mister crumbled them in 9) sauteed the onions, celery, and garlic in the bacon fat 10) he likes it really spicy so i added about a Tbs more of the hot sauce to HIS taste. It's going to sit in the fridge until tomorrow when the hubby man takes it to work! he tasted it and said it was good! bad thing is, im a vegetarian so i couldnt taste my handywork! ive actually never made chili before! im interested to hear if he thinks it tastes better the next day since the flavors will have a chance to marinade over night!

Polish Style Lasagna
my husband and i literally just got done eating this! it was really good, but the potato was insanely dry! i added more water, and it was still very hard to spread. because of the other reviews, i made more of the mashed potato to add an extra layer on top, which i followed with cheese. i also mixed in my saute(1 and 1/2 white onion, 2 green onion stalks, 1 celery stalk, minced garlic) in the with potato, as well as garlic salt(instead of regular salt), ground pepper, basil, parsley, and dill(loooove dill). instead of regular cream cheese, i used the chive and onion kind. if i make this again, i will definately add milk to the potatoes. they stuck to the roof of both of our mouths! i may add a layer of kraut, but my husband hates it. ill just have to sneak it in!

Cucumber Sandwich
ive had this sandwich a very long time ago and it was so good! i just made it again, and unfortunately, i only had regular salad lettuce, and living on an army base in germany, the army grocery stores do not carry the sprouts(which i used to put on almost any sandwich), but it was still amazing! the rest of the avo im going to use to make guac!UPDATE: i forgot to mention, half an avocado is too much for one side of bread, and if you add garlic salt on the avo instead of regular salt with the pepper, it gives it a lot better flavor!
