Married with 2 kids (3 and 6 right now).
My mom wasn't a gourmet, but taught me to appreciate the fun and art of cooking and to never be afraid to try something new.
My favorite things to cook
We love Mexican and Indian/Afgan (the spicier the better!). Of course, classic comfort foods like spaghetti meatballs, meatloaf, white mac cheese are nice on occassion, but we try lots of new recipes often. My children are not picky and they love new things, especially crab and lobster. They are easy to make!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make hand dipped chocolates every Christmas. The heavybottom pan I use for fondant was the one my grandmother used when she taught my mother to dip chocolates, so it's almost 60 years old and very special.
My cooking triumphs
Filleting an entire salmon and smoking it (on my stove top no less) to rave reviews.
My cooking tragedies
Ugh. Re-learning to cook on an electric stove. I was raised learning on a gas range and electric just isn't for me. Remodeling the kitchen as we speak to install gas lines... :)
