About this Cook
I'm a mom who loves to cook. Fortunately I have sons and a husband that like to eat! Hubby likes to cook too, and we get a little adventurous in the kitchen from time to time.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake, the kids like to make anything that makes a mess or includes frosting or sprinkles and hubby is the reigning grill master of the neighborhood.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Living in Louisiana and other states in the South, I learned a lot of 'southern' recipes that we love. Up north it's more healthy and easy food, we like it all!
My cooking triumphs
Spaghetti, Lasagna, Meatball Sandwiches...toast? (I make great toast!)My casseroles rock. And any type of dessert, anything that can be baked is great around here.
My cooking tragedies
Husband hates my macaroni and cheese...(I like it), and my attempts at Chinese Food are never good, but I will get it!

Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce III
I have found some some really good recipes on this site...but this one, hands down, is my Favorite. I decided to make bread pudding for Thanksgiving instead of the usual pies. We moved from New Orleans and miss the great food there, bread pudding is one of their staples, so I have had my share of great bread pudding. And this just may be better than any I have had. I made it the night before and put it in the fridge overnight so it would be cold (the only way I like it). Also, I was running low on cinnamon, I had about 3/4 a tbsp, so I added about 3/4 tsp nutmeg also. We made the sauce, which was perfect, right before dessert so it would be hot. The recipe didn't specify what type of corn syrup, so I used dark. That's how I recommend bread pudding...cold with warm sauce. Thanks So much for sharing, this recipe made Thanksgiving complete. I will make this Every single Thanksgiving, for ever probably! From now on, if we have a turkey, we have this bread pudding.

Broccoli Casserole III
I always made a broccoli casserole sort of similar to this, but it contained Cream of Mushroom and bread crumbs...so does my green bean casserole. So I decided to try this one instead for Thanksgiving for a little variety...my husband was skeptical because he loves my normal holiday broccoli concoction...but this was a hit. I made it slightly differently, boiling the broccoli until thawed and a little soft, I drained it, put it back in the pot, added a little butter, salt and pepper and then the Velveeta, melted it all, put 1/2 in my casserole pan then put a layer of cheddar cheese, then the rest of the broccoli, and the crackers and butter. I think my order of favorites was the turkey, than this, than the sweet potato pudding I made. The crackers and butter make it. Thanks for sharing! I will make this every major holiday!

Megaturkey
This recipe already uses my basic stuffing recipe that I love, so I decided to try it and we LOVED it. We will definitely make it again, and again, and again. Ours was 13 lbs, and it was just right. Not so many left overs that they will go bad, but just right for a family of 4. The turkey was moist and wonderful and the apples (I used green) were a great touch. I did use salt, pepper and garlic powder on outside of the turkey before putting it in the bag. The hardest part of the recipe was finding the oven bags the day before Thanksgiving, the first 2 stores were sold out! Thanks for sharing!!!
