I am a receptionist with Australia Post, married to a wonderful guy and we have two beautiful daughters who have finally left the nest and purchased their own homes with their partners,so I really miss cooking for the whole family. Our girls come around with their boyfriends for our weekly gathering and I always receive the phone call about what I am going to be cooking and I end up making their favorites everytime.
My favorite things to cook
Slow cooker meals are currently the rage in our home and Allrecipes have great recipes from around the world, especially America, they are just experts with this great machine. Pasta sauces and salads are all my favorites, and being aussie, we do love our bbq's and summer is just around the corner.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am well known for my home made dips and recently making dim sims and spring rolls. A traditional roast on a Sunday is always a hit in our home with all the trimmings.
My cooking triumphs
Every Melbourne Cup is a challenge for me, my daughters organise a bus load of their friends, so it's early breakfast, off to the horse races and then they come back in the late afternoon for it to all start again with dinner and drinks, so I am already preparing the menu well and truly in advance, and there is always more people each year.
My cooking tragedies
I was reading one of the other members tragedies and had a good laugh to myself, the most simple banana bread and it is always a disaster, I am finally getting the message that I just don't have the expertise in that field (I give up).
