Potato Leek Soup III
This soup was perfect on a rainy spring Saturday evening, after a trip to the farmer's market and some errands. I served it with some shredded cheese on top, plus a pea vine salad and challah on the side. There was enough for 2 teenage boys, my husband and me. 1/2 c butter 3 leeks 1 qt vegetable broth 2 tsp cornstarch 4 c diced yukon gold 2 c whole milk I used vegetable broth, so it needed a good amount of kosher salt. I also used white pepper for better visual appeal, IMO.

Sweet Potato Pie I
This is a great basic recipe that is wonderful when made as written, especially for beginners. It's also a very good starting point for more expert or adventurous bakers. I've made it several times, always 2 at a time, because they go quickly. :) Replacing half of the white sugar with brown sugar is nice. I also increase the amount of spices to my liking. The pie turns out fine with milk, and better with evaporated milk or half and half.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
This recipe made 18 big cookies. Everyone loved them! I thought they were a bit heavy for my taste.
