About this Cook
I love trying new things and feeding my family. I work full time, but it is a joy in my life to go home and make dinner every night.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, there was always a BIG meal on Sunday afternoons--beef roast, mashed potatoes, a few kinds of veggies, homemade rolls or biscuits with jam, and cookies or pie. I love being home (or at grandma's!) on Sundays--which doesn't happen often, since it's a 2-day drive to either.
My cooking tragedies
My first experience with making cookies without my mom (I was 11) I mixed up tablespoons with teaspoons. The proportions were SOO off... and I was so proud of myself. I learned (much later) that my parents threw them away and replaced them with edible cookies that night while I was sleep.

Pumpkin Fudge
This didn't turn out for me the first time (I guess I didn't cook it long enough?) but I plan to try again AFTER I buy a candy thermometer. Following the directions made it turn out chewy and thin--definitely more like caramel. It did taste good, though, if we could get enough of the foil off to enjoy it.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork
The first time I made this my husband was skeptical... now he makes sure that we keep the ingredients on hand and asks for it often!

Easy Salsa Meatloaf
Absolutely wonderful. I have made this three times now, and it has turned out moist and tasty each time. I use chunky salsa (from the store) and stuffing mix instead of bread crumbs and we love it!
