I am a happily married to my wonderful husband and am happily raising my three busy, quirky kids. Up until January of 2009, we were all living in Oklahoma City where I grew up, but we transplanted ourselves to the Muskogee/Fort Gibson region after my husband was offered a job at one of the area hospitals. It is taking some time for me to get adjusted to small town life, but all in all it has been a very positive experience.
My favorite things to cook
If it were up to me I would be baking cookies, cakes, muffins, etc. all the time, but with juggling my job, kids and their homework, housework and the fact that husband is trying to eat healthier meals, I spend most of my time in the kitchen preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon snacks.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only cooking traditions that come to mind for me are various foods that are eaten during the big holidays throughout the year. I can't think about Thanksgiving without memories of my dad and me making the dressing, or Christmas with all the different kinds of cookies, and Easter with deviled eggs.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I pull something out of the oven that my family enjoys and/or raves about, asks for seconds, or requests at another time is a triumph in my eyes.
My cooking tragedies
No major cooking tragedies. If something doesn't come out right the first time, I learn from that experience, make adjustments to the recipe and try again. Cooking is supposed to be fun. Then again, there was the time my two-year-old dumped half of a freshly baked batch of granola onto the floor. That made me sad...
