About this Cook
Canadian of Scottish decent, now living in New England. Married to a wonderful Sicilian-American. My kitchen is very confused. The children are grown so we share our home with three Maine Coon cats.
My favorite things to cook
Everything and anything. Bread, pasta, ice cream (thats not technically cooking is it?)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Nothing warms my heart more than cooking for my family. We love traditional Italian meals that last hours and have several courses. We make a point of doing this for birthday celebrations and choose the menu based on the favorite dishes of the "guest of honor".
My cooking tragedies
I have too many to list here. But every time you fail, your just learning how not to do it next time. I don't sweat it. OK, may be I sweat it a little when the ingredients are expensive...

Best Pickled Eggs in all of Ottawa
Just a note for the cooks on the American side of the border. White distilled vinegar sold in canada is NOT the same as white distilled vinegar sold in the states. Even the same brand such as Heinz tastes different. Canadian Vinegar is sweeter and it makes a big difference when it is the main ingredient.

Breakfast Sausage
I used half ground pork and half ground turkey. This recipe is perfect. I made this for a family breakfast and everyone loved it from age 15 to 70. I add a splash of water (just a splash) to help the herbs and spices incorporate easier. This works well with most sausage recipes.
