Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: feb. 2, 2009
This is better than the Quaker recipe, especially if you follow the tips from others. Increasing the flour and baking powder make the cookies soft and chewy. I use 1 cup white chocolate chips and 1 cup dried cranberries. I also added some cinnamon and cloves as I like a spice oatmeal cookie. Next time I will increase salt to 1 teaspoon to counter the sweetness of the white chocolate. They are nice and soft though. I will use this recipe all the time now.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: jan. 14, 2009
You absolutely cannot screw up this recipe.. I tried really hard, but couldn't do it. It was so great. My first try at homemade bread. I forgot to add the water with the first set of ingredients and then added too much flour. I was so flustered, the dough kneaded for 3-4 minutes. I didn't put enough oil in the bowl and the top of the dough dried out. To make things worse, the temp in the house was too cool, even with the oven on and it took two hours to rise. I was about to throw the whole mess out when it finally rose. I punched it down because of all the work I had done and put it in the pans, looking like blobs with appendages. It rose again in about an hour and I baked it. It smelled wonderful! The bread was so great. I had used a technique my daughter suggested to prevent the crust from being too thick or tough, spraying one spray of water in the oven every 3 minutes for the first 9 minutes. The crust was perfect. Even my daughter, who has been baking bread for awhile said this was a great bread (and she didn't try it until 5 days later). I will be making this a lot. The 16-yr-old male in the house even bothers to cut this for himself. Wow, thanks so much!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: may 13, 2008
I followed this recipe to the letter and I wasn't real thrilled. It took much longer to cook and the "crust" was soggy. However, I put all the leftovers in containers and took it all to work for lunch for my coworkers. We put it on salad and it was good, though the crust was still soggy. I am going to try one more time because of the number of good reviews this got, but I will make a "crumb topping" with the melted butter so it will crisp up.

Chocolate Cookie Cheesecake

Reviewed: mar. 18, 2008
Are there more than 5 stars for a recipe. This is the best recipe I have made from this site. Truly tastes as good, if not better, than Cheesecake Factory, and costs a lot less. I made one for a friend's party using a 9 inch pan and used some of the extra batter to make three small ones for us. They all turned out perfect. The ganache really makes it professional looking and adds so much. I did not take the cream out of the cookies, just put them in my Kitchen Aid blender on chop. I have never made such an easy cookie crust. I will make it again soon!

Chicken Pot Pie III

Reviewed: nov. 24, 2007
This recipe is quickly becoming a TG tradition. One of the early reviewers suggested using half turkey gravy, which absolutely changes the taste and makes this a truly memorable pie. My daughter and I now get together and make up lots of pies to freeze from the leftovers. They take about 1-1/2 hrs to cook, but just popping them in the oven on a cold night turns into great comfort food.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: nov. 10, 2007
I haven't even gotten the tortellini or zucchini in yet and it is so good. My boys can't wait to dig in. This will be one recipe I make many times this winter and all year in fact. No doubt about it...A KEEPER! Thanks.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: apr. 16, 2006
My first meringue pie was such a hit. The picky 13 yo even wanted seconds. My meringue was watery as noted by other reviewers, so next time I will use a different recipe, which will be soon, maybe even next weekend. I absolutely loved this pie. A real keeper.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: nov. 4, 2005
I made the changes suggested in some of the reviews and this soup was a hit, even with some teenage boys who came by that night. This is definitely a keeper recipe, with fresh brocoli and some cheddar cheese.

Easy Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: jul. 21, 2005
I made this cobbler with fresh peaches, nectarines and raspberries. It was pretty easy and quick to put together, but I'm not that impressed with the final product. I was disappointed in the filling, especially since I used three boxes of fresh raspberries (which are hard to come by in So. Cal. The juices were thin and not set very well. I had read the reviews and had cut the cream cheese and butter into the cake mix. The topping tasted great, but next time I want cobbler, I'll use a more traditional recipe.

Mocha Blanca Cheesecake

Reviewed: aug. 29, 2002
I loved the taste of this cheesecake. Not so chocolately that you can't eat a piece, moist and creamy. I think I will make the crust half again as large as I like a thicker crust on cheesecake. It was a hit with friends! A keeper!
