About this Cook
I love my kitchen! I love collecting vintage cookbooks and embracing forgotten recipes. I am a "Splendid Table" listener. I am a coupon shopper. I love my aprons! I do not own a microwave or dishwasher. I love vintage Pyrex. Cooking in heels is sexy but uncomfortable.
My favorite things to cook
Stovetop espresso lattes, curried skillet breakfast potatoes, no-ice fruit smoothies, any green vegetable, salmon, fresh spaghetti sauce, any breakfast food, hot sandwiches, old fashioned cakes, cookies, and candies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We had really good/fluffy pancakes, my mother's chicken casserole was warm and fuzzy. Christmas/Thanksgiving faves were my mother's sweet potato casserole, my father's Sausage/Bisquick rolls, and chocolate-peanut butter balls.
My cooking triumphs
I have perfected chocolate chip cookies and the recipe is a secret! I have also perfected curried skillet potatoes for breakfast/pot lucks, and I will post that asap!
My cooking tragedies
A mocha torte from an old cookbook I made last Christmas... the cakes ended up way too fluffy, my icing way too runny. Luckily, the only folks at my gathering were my husband and his parents and my parents. We had a good laugh about it and I was thankful I had made multiple deserts.

Balsamic Glazed Salmon
Exceptional way to serve salmon! Served with Honey Almond Green Beans and Dutch Potatoes, this was a hit with my man at the table!

Honey Cashew Green Beans
Unique flavor! Husband usually does not prefer sweetness in the flavor of vegetables, but this was an automatic favorite with him. Used slivered almonds to cut down on cost. Also, instead of steaming the beans, I threw them in with the almonds, butter, and honey. Yum Yum!

Dutch Potatoes
Wonderful way to incorporate carrots into a mashed side dish for dinner. We love onions and the flavor was semi-reminiscent to that of perogies. I wish I had added a tad bit of salted butter and/or salt when cooking this dish.
