About this Cook
Im Pete and im 25, ever since i was knee high i knew my choice of career was going to be in the catering and hospitality industry, all ways baking cooking at home with my mum and when we visited granny, currently writting a recipe book for mum for her birthday and looking for some great insperations and twists on the recipes i have. ive now been in the industry for 13 years and would like to think im a professional, im sure mum would say differently hehe ok peace out ........
My favorite things to cook
Sauces, soups, and any thing on the BBQ Grill, recently found a love of Jamacian/Carribian, cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
mum taught me all the basics and it is still great to get in the kitchen with her, being a chef i treat her like a KP and all i get off the hardened scottish lady is your not a bloody work now clean your bloody mess up. she hates it when i go round to cook her and neil summit, this is the ultimate tradition i have and im sure it will continue for many years. my new tradition is my mate Dave, he lives a good 2 and 1/2 hours away and is away for 6 months at a time, every time he visits we nip to the local store and stock up we bounce off each other in the kitchen so much its great, we never know what we are going to cook or what the end results are going to be, i take credit in Daves cullinary skills but in his own right he can hold his head high and say he is on par with me, a much neater tidier cook he nearly has a chef title under his belt, daves not in the catering industry like my self, but during his time abroad he is a Challet host and has picked up a few tricks of his own..
My cooking triumphs
The first time i ever tried cooking out side the house, was at school and it was food tech. Lemon cheese cake and I loved it top marks pass and it was only onwards and upwards from here on in. I was so young and the praise i got was amazing.
My cooking tragedies
ever tried to boil an egg in th micro wave, i mean with out any water, just putting in on the glass plate and hitting go. BOOM and the smell aint much better :(
