About this Cook
I am the mother of two busy children, ages 15 and 11, who have been raised to appreciate good food. My husband, Barry, is a cardiologist and we share an interest in promoting better health through exercise and eating well. I love to cook and try new things.
My favorite things to cook
I love to serve a meal that everyone appreciates and that is good for you. I have a collection of easy, quick meals for busy nights and other favorite recipes that require more time. I cook a broad spectrum of food from ethnic, Southern, and even desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We enjoy a good breakfast on the weekend, maybe pancakes, french toast, coffee cake or biscuits. My 11 yr. old daughter now makes the best biscuits. There are certain foods we have to have at holiday time, like cranberry salad, dressing, pumpkin pie, etc.
My cooking triumphs
My best achievement in cooking has been to raise two children who appreciate good food at a time when so many children think mac n cheese or chicken nuggets are the only dinner choices.
My cooking tragedies
The tofu stir fry I tried years ago was so bad that we couldn't even eat the vegetables. My husband had to get to a meeting quickly so we ate bananas, bread and cheese. That was just fine with my son, who was a toddler at the time but I was very disappointed. Tofu is now a joke at our house.
