Hello! I am a total neophyte ... I used to be a fry-cook at some decent bar-and-grill type joints back in the 80s, but I haven't really cooked since. Now, I'm trying to bring a higher level of dining back into my life and to re-discover my love for cooking. I don't know! I'm trying to figure this out ... The one thing I've made consistently over the years is a quiche lorraine. I guess I like to cook it because I keep making it ... My mother was a hard-working single-parent who was a great kitchen improviser. She was great at making the best of the ingredients she could afford, and my favorite recipes still involve certain quantities of Jiffy-Mix, etc. All of the recipes I've tried from this site have gone down well with my girlfriend, who is, in large part, my impetus for cooking more ... She is a great amateur chef who cooks for me often, and I want to reciprocate. So far, the Swiss Cheese Meat-Loaf really made her eyes light up ... "The Corn-Baby." I'll say no more.
