About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I stick to healthy recipes. Lately I'm moving away from red meats, though I do love a good steak, and trying to focus more on fish, chicken, and veggies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Home cooked meals were scarce growing up...
My cooking triumphs
My very first thanksgiving turkey turned out to be an utter masterpiece... Thanks Food Network!
My cooking tragedies
When I was a teenager I forgot to add the water to a cup of ramen and it caught on fire... seriously. Ha, ha. I've come a long way...

Coconut Muffins
I made these this morning. The only thing I changed was applesauce instead of vegetable oil and no butter in the topping. The taste was fine, though a little more coconut extract wouldn't hurt. I was not impressed with the biscuit like muffin. I like my muffins airy. The topping was a great idea however, and I will use that if I ever find a recipe for lighter muffins.

Fresh Asparagus Soup
Well the writer is right... everyone does love this soup. I was a little cynical when I was making it, because it didn't really smell good and it definately didn't look good. The taste however was awsome. Great recipe... I'm a believer now. I used 2% milk because I didn't have regular soy milk and thought the parmasean was one of the best parts.

Acorn Squash Soup
This recipe is AWSOME. I'd never had acorn squash before and bought some and searched for a recipe because it was on sale. I left out the bacon, which leaves an incredibly healthy and very tasty soup. LOVE IT! Made it one day, and ate it all within 24 hrs, then made it again and doubled the recipe the next.
