Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Made as directed, used all of it on 2 lbs ground beef with a little water added to help incoorporate it. We thought it was great, and no need to buy anymore store bought packets of salty flavoring!

I thought this was OK, maybe a little bland. I make a similar recipe with honey and a little spice that has more flavor.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
We love this crust! It's our go to homemade recipe! I figure 1 batch will give us 2 14" thin crust pizzas or 1 cookie sheet tray size thick crust. I prebake it for 10 minutes then add the toppings and bake for 10-15 more minutes. I use it with "Exquisite Pizza Sauce" from AR also. Very good!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

This has been a great sauce! I make it as is (double to freeze extras) and leave out the anchovy paste and use 1 Tbl of honey. I use it with Jay's Signature Pizza Crust from AR also. SO good!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies III

These are fabulous! I loved the filling especially. Made as directed with no problems. Using my small scooper, I cut each ball of dough in half and got 84 little cookies. When sandwiched together I got 42 cookies. Mine were 2" little cookies when completed.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
5 *stars* here! I usually make Alton Brown's bulk pancake mix, but decided on these today. I added a splash of vanilla extract to the ingredients, and used the faux buttermilk (sour milk = w/vinegar) instead. These came out EXCELLENT, nice and fluffy too! Any cons? Maybe a tad bit too eggy, but still worth the 5 stars. Thanks for sharing this recipe! It's going on my blog "Mommy? I'm Hungry!".

Popovers

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
These were my 1st Popovers to bake ever. I added some vanilla to mine and also baked them for a total of 3o mins. I served some with melted jam and some with a cinnamon honey butter (from this site). They were great, but maybe a little under done inside.

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
I saw this mentioned on the Popover recipe here, and knew I had to try it! It is SO good! I also adjusted the ingredients as follows: 1/2 cup butter, softened, 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup honey, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. It comes out smooth as silk, yum!

Manicotti Alla Romana

*Please note, there is prep time and precooking times to consider! Better yet, make it ahead of time and bake when needed! Just don't start this at dinner time. For me, it was about 2 hours until we sat down to eat. We thought this was good. I adapted this and made with chicken and used homemade spaghetti sauce.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
SIFT the flour then measure it, yes there is a BIG difference if you don't. I too used 1 1/2 C milk (maybe use 1 1/4 c next time), made the meringue first then folded it into the batter and added some pureed strawberries to some of the batter. This gave me 24 cupcakes plus a small round layer. I thought these were pretty good, very moist and delicate but there is a hint of eggyness to them. I topped these with a strawberry cream cheese frosting.

Maria's Pepper Steak

I put this in the crockpot (probably my mistake?). Doubled the sauce, added 1 Cup beef broth and let it cook away for about 5 hrs on low. It began to smell like it was burning and sadly it did not taste great.

Chocolate Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
I needed a quick recipe for chocolate sauce with ingredients I already had on hand. This was it, and will be forever on! Great for chocolate milk, ice cream...This is FANTASTIC made with the suggestions of replacing the 1 1/4 cup water with 1/2 cup corn syrup, 1/2 cup milk, and 1/4 cup water.

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
We thought this was ok. Changed it up a little as suggested by others and VIVIBO: I doubled the recipe, use a pinch of ground cloves, used 3 large cans whole toms, sauteed chopped garlic in olive oil add the chopped onions (1 large) and saute until tender. Pureed with a submersible blender (instead of a food mill) and then added the roux as described in the recipe. Added 2 tbl sugar and 1 cup milk.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
This is GREAT! I made it just as directed for the ingredients, but I baked this in an 8x8 clear glass baking dish, at 350' F for 30 minutes, lowered the temp to 325' F and let it bake 30 more minutes (until a knife came out clean) and covered it with parchment so it wouldn't get dark too fast (but that sort of stuck to it, so...). This came out perfect! Flavor, texture and moisture wise, it's just right! I topped this with fresh whipped cream. This will be my go to recipe for now on. http://ldylvbgr.blogspot.com/2008/12/gingerbread.html

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I used store bought meatballs and double the sauce ingredients, using 2 jard of chili sauce. I heated everything up in the crockpot. I made these for an 11 yr old's Bday, and the kids did not care for them (should have went with sweet n sour). I thought they were ok, the sauce was a little tangy, but mellowed out by the next day.

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I made this for an 11 yr olds Bday party, and would you know that the girls did not care for it! I liked it but found it really sweet. Mine came out really fluffy. The next day I stirred it up and it came out smooth and nice. I made it as suggested by DWILSON0116: Use light Strawberry Cream Cheese. add 2 TBS of orange juice when mixing with the marshmallow ceam. Finally, fold in 1 cup of Cool Whip.

Buttermilk Pancakes I

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
I made a large batch of these for the girls from our sleepover. I went with this recipe, so I wouldn't use all my butter. I added in some vanilla and a pinch of salt also. Then I mixed them up in my stand mixer until smooth. I used my 1/4 C to measure them out on the griddle. This batter is runny so they will spread out. I loved that they cut so nicely even after sitting for a bit, not all rubbery like others. The flavor of the baking soda was noticeable though so maybe use less.
