About this Cook
everyone in my family cooks. we always had a homecooked meal from mom and weekend breakfasts from dad. and the best was grandpa's sunday dinners after church! now, my younger brother is a professional pastry chef and i'm on my own with my man who fix up a mean dinner as well!
My favorite things to cook
i love pasta and homemade sauce. and comfort foods, anything creamy and not good for me at all! i love desserts and baking but i rarely have the time anymore :(
My favorite family cooking traditions
jeez-o-man, my family has a huge spread on the holidays. you'd think we were feeding the entire neighborhood. inevitably i gain a few chrismas pounds. but it's SO worth it to eat my mom's christmas cookies! we always have the old favorites but everyone tries to spice it up a bit with a new recipe every now and then. and holy cow, my brother makes the best cheesecake in the whole world. i cannot believe he's still single!
My cooking triumphs
i've got my sweet tea to the right recipe! that makes me happy. also, i don't have to look at the recipe anymore when i make pasta. hahahaha. but i make the best cookies!
My cooking tragedies
when i was 19 i made a chicken pot pie with two crusts! that was a disaster! the top crust fell into the mixture that was way too soupy. my friend scott will never let me live that dish down!

Turkey Tetrazzini II
we added frozen peas, mushrooms, red pepper flakes, paprika, and bread crumbs with butter on the top. it was an excellent way to make leftover turkey. next time we will add some white wine!

Three Cheese Manicotti II
i thought this was a great recipe. it was really easy. i used small curd breakstones creamy cottage cheese instead of ricotta because i had it in the fridge. and i found it very easy to use the barilla no boil lasagna noodles. i soaked them in hot water for about 5 min and then rolled the filling up inside them. it was SOOO much easier than filling shells.
