About this Cook
Just moved to Wisconsin in '08, I have always loved to cook and be creative in my cooking. I have a great husband and two wonderful sons who try all of my experiments. I earned my B.A. from the University of Montana in Missoula in Communication Studies but my first love is in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I am interested in food tours throughout the U.S. and Canada. I love gravy-laced foods and southern-style cuisine but I want to try to master to local dishes and see what our new family favorites can be.
My favorite family cooking traditions
English muffin breads, most anything homemade is a plus! Since I work now and have two very active boys, I also give in to the quick fix foods but my heart belongs to homemade dinners all the way.
My cooking triumphs
Discovering I can bake desserts! I don't have much of a sweet tooth and my cookies and cake were turning out beautiful because I didn't touch them and was looking for a more visually pleasing finished product! Turned out if it looks good, eat it!
My cooking tragedies
When I was 14 I made spaghetti. I mixed the cooked noodles into the sauce and turned the heat on the skillet up too high - burned the whole dish! The housed smelled bad, but we still tried to eat it.

Sugar Cookie Glaze
This was good. I will use it again. It was a little runny but I think it was because I added a 1/4tsp of vanilla for flavor. The cookies took 2 hours to dry, but then still tacky - I will try more sugar next time.

Mexican Mole Sauce
We are very pleased with this recipe! My 4year-old loved it. We had it over chicken wrapped in flour tortillas and added fresh avacado, tomato and made corn chips at home. I added a little (1/4cup maybe) extra water at the end before the boil to make sure it didn't get too thick. It turned out perfectly and I was very impressed. I will use this recipe often - we have mexican food several times a week.

Old-Fashioned Potato Pancakes
I made these tonight since I had a ton of potatoes left over from my holiday cooking. I did not have parsely so I made them without. I used my non-stick griddle, mashed the pancakes out very thin with the sides of 2 forks and cooked them until very crispy. The husband and son ate them as they were done since they do not sit well and become soggy very fast. I ate mine while still cooking several on the griddle. Had them with applesauce and sour cream, maple syrup or cheese and ranch dressing.
