About this Cook
I love to travel and my husband and I love to go camping. I'm very involved in women's programs at our church. We have two wonderful grown sons, daughter-in-laws and one beautiful granddaughter.
My favorite things to cook
I love to experiment with proven recipes, adding, subtracting, etc. Pasta dishes are fun to work with. I enjoy baking cookies always striving to make them perfect!
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Christmas time I always "do up" baskets and or festive bags with homemade goodies. Cookies, Fudge, Carmel Popcorn, Butter Almond Toffee and sometimes homemade chocolates. All my family members look forward to being the "receiver" of these gifts.
My cooking triumphs
Because I'm always experimenting, there's always a triumph...in the end.
My cooking tragedies
I tried several times in one day to make cream puffs only to find they weren't rising. I'd been using unsalted butter. After 3 or 4 times and 3 or 4 pounds of butter I finally made the switch to salted butter and they came out perfectly!

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs
5+++ The meatballs and the sauce were delicious. I realized half way into making the sauce I didn't have any pineapple and didn't have time to go the the store. I therefore improvised...I watered down some lemon juice and amazingly it was extremely tasty.

German Apple Cake I
This cake is so MOIST and DELICIOUS!! I would have given it 10 stars! I did reduce the oil by using 1/2 c. sour cream and 1/2 c. oil and increased the cinnamon to 2 1/2 tsp.

Dynamite
For more flavor I added about 4 cups of chopped celery (at least 1/2 inch chunks),one can of tomato paste with equal parts water, one 15 ounce can tomato sauce and large can of whole tomatoes. My mother-in-law makes this and usually serves it on hot dog or hamburger rolls. I've even served it on top of pasta...yummy. Thanks
