About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love the holidays! I really get into baking and cookie making. I also recently lost 50 lbs, so I am always trying to cook healthy. We love soup so I experiment with different ingredients to make hearty soups. I also enjoy making muffins and cupcakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite thing to do at Christmas time is make spritz cookies. This has been a tradition at our house since my son was small. He is now 28!
My cooking triumphs
We are a cooking family! My husband loves to bar-b-que. So when ever I try to cook on the grill it is a triumph if it is edible.
My cooking tragedies
In 32 years of cooking, there are too many to write about.......... the time I made rolls and killed the yeast.... or the time left a glass baking dish of lasagne on top of the stove and turned on the burner, or the time..........

Slow Cooker Tamale Pie
My husband loved it! I used turkey instead of ground beef, and I added a can of tomatoes with chili seasoning. I was surprised how much the corn bread mix tasted like tamales. This recipe will be one of my regulars.

Walnut Pear Coffee Cake
This recipe is great. I made it to take to a Christmas luncheon and there was only one small piece left. My husband said it was great. My springform pan is only 8-1/2, so my cake took longer to bake. I also added a cup of oats to the recipe and I used fat free sour cream. I baked my cake for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. I'll make this one again.
