Blue Cheese Cole Slaw

This is really good! The blue cheese kind of melts into the dressing for a pretty subtle flavor. I halved the mustard and went light on the sugar, and we really enjoyed the results!

Cola Sauerkraut

I'm giving this a 3 because I could stomach it at all -- I don't like sauerkraut, but made it for my half-German husband, who would probably rate it a 4.

Greek Penne and Chicken

I was in the mood for a chicken and pasta meal -- imagine my delight when I opened this site and this was the featured recipe. I also used marinated artichoke hearts and recommend that change. Leftovers were surprisingly good cold the next day!

Three Bean Salad

Great bean salad...neither too sweet nor not sweet enough. I used dried pintos and garbanzos, along with canned green beans, and did not have to go to the grocery store because I had everything on hand. Surprisingly, it was NOT better the second day as some things are...eat it the day you make it.

Tandoori Chicken I

Didn't look, smell or taste like any tandoori chicken I ever had...maybe something was left out of the recipe? Anyway, the leftovers were excellent in Julie's Chicken Salad from this site.

Cuban Ropa Vieja

Loved this. Had to change the cooking method since my slow cooker disappeared last time I moved. So I just compromised, cooked it 5 1/2 hrs. on my stove's lowest setting. A slow oven would probably work too. Like most slow-cooked meats, it was better the next day.

Grilled Pork Chops with Summertime Salsa

I like this one. The meat is juicy and the flavor is slightly spicy. I served it with lentils and steamed broccoli, and the salsa was great on the lentils. Left out the mint because we don't care for it.

Asparagus Cashew Rice Pilaf

This can be great with some minor adjustments. I used shallots instead of onions, because I had them. I also roasted the asparagus (you can do ahead) and toasted the cashews. With these changes, five stars.

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Great combination of flavors. Did mine on my Foreman-type grill, closed. Next time I will try fresh pineapple in larger chunks. I served this with asparagus cashew rice pilaf from this site.

Pear Pie I

I consider myself a pretty good cook, but not a very good baker. Also, I don't like anything too sweet. May that's why I liked this so much. It was easy and delicious, and my husband, who DOES like sweets, loved it too.

Angel's Old Fashioned Beef Stew

I agree with the person who said this was a good basic recipe. I also agree that the potatoes need to be cut larger to keep them from falling apart. I substituted red wine for part of the broth and added thyme and salt. I think the people who added bouillon were just looking for more salt!
