My favorite part of cooking is recreating a meal I have ordered in a restaurant. I love the challenge to perfect it and also enjoy it at home with the added advantage of paying a lot less for it!
My favorite things to cook
I love grilling and roasting vegetables to use in many different recipes. Some examples: in Soups, Chicken or Turkey Pot Pies, Quiche, Stir Fry, Pasta and Rice dishes, Quesadillas and even Enchiladas.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When my family is here for any occasion I try to include one dish that each member loves to eat or drink. It may be the appetizer, cocktail, main dish, side dish or dessert, but I will know that each person will be satisfied with at least one part of the meal.
My cooking triumphs
I consider a cooking triumph whenever I hear compliments from my friends and family about a meal I have prepared...especially if it's one I have created myself!
My cooking tragedies
Garlic Bread. I literally have to baby-sit my garlic bread. This works best for me. Since I'm not really using a recipe for it due to using different breads and temperature settings at times (from foods I may have just taken out of the oven) it’s always a guessing game. So now I have resorted to parking myself in front of the oven. I know it will be less than ten minutes or so but I am determined to sit and watch for it to be the perfect bubbly, golden brown!
One thing neither my family nor I will ever forget is when I was carrying a 9x13 dish of barbecued chicken and I dropped it. Fortunately the dish didn't break and it landed right side up with enough chicken left in it for us to still enjoy dinner!
