About this Cook
I've been married 17 years and have 2 teenagers. I like to cook and read recipe books.
My favorite things to cook
I like recipes that will allow for leftovers. I especially like stews and casseroles that will give me enough for 2 meals during the week.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Some of my fondest recollections of my mom's cooking (she was a great cook) are the easy meals she made when there was no time or nothing in the house. Like chipped beef gravy on toast or hamburger gravy on toast. But there's really no traditions to speak of.
My cooking tragedies
I've had a few crockpot meals that disentegrated by dinner time. And nice fish steaks have turned into rubber after I've cooked them. I avoid most fish and crockpot recipes.

Bob's Stuffed Mushrooms
These were fantastic! Only thing is, nobody could taste the clams...and since I tripled the recipe for a big party, the clams added about $6 to the cost. I think I'll leave them out next time to save some bucks. Everyone loved them!

Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole
This is NOT a difficult recipe...I don't know why some think so. Use 2 rotisserie chickens to cut down the cooking time. Throw everything together and put into 3- 8x8 aluminum casserole dishes. Eat one...freeze the others. It is an awesome dish to have on hand for crazy evening when there's no time to cook, OR if a friend is sick and needs a dinner taken to their house. I add either French fried onion rings to the top, or crushed/buttered Ritz crackers. Also, my original recipe for this didn't call for curry powder...it's good either way.

Bacon Water Chestnut Rolls
I doubled this recipe and it disappeared! You don't have to double the sauce...there's plenty enough with just one recipe of it. I served the sauce on the side so that the bacon wouldn't get soggy. Delicious!!
