About this Cook
The first time I cooked, I was 12. My mom had just left so it was just me, my sister and my dad. I made pork chops in mushroom soup with mashed potatoes (all from scratch!). My dad said it was the best meal he had ever eaten because it was cooked with love! I love to cook (when I am home and have the time). Usually on the weekends I cook up a storm. I am married to a great man and we have 4 cats (no kids)
My favorite things to cook
Almost anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Although I don't know how to make it, my Grandma used to make what she called "Chicken Pot Pie" but was really a fresh chicken soup with FRESH chicken, FRESH veggies from the garden and HOMEMADE noodles. YUMMMMMMM!!!!
My cooking triumphs
Creating a "mexican" lasagna .. lots of trial and error but what an outcome! It has quickly become a requested dish when we have company
My cooking tragedies
I made a bean soup that was so horrible it couldn't be eaten. Apparently I had a type of bean in it that required a special cooking method of rinsing, soaking, rinsing, soaking etc.

Smoked Sausage and Zucchini Saute
This recipe was quick and easy. I had the saute part done before my rice was finished! The only confusing part was the zucchini ... the way it is worded for cutting ends up in 4 pieces so I cut it lengthwise then sliced it into 1/2 rounds (like half-moons). The flavour was simple and it's a nice quick meal.

BBQ Pie
This was an easy recipe. My husband called it "camp" food! He's not fond of BBQ sauce but I am and this combination suited us both. I used a sweeter yet spicy BBQ sauce which was a really nice compliment.

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II
This soup was a meal in itself! Rich and creamy. I can't believe the flavour with only 5 ingredients (not counting the cheese topping). I pureed some of the potato, stock and leeks before adding the cooked bacon for extra creaminess.
