About this Cook
I recently moved to New York City from Seattle Washington with my husband. While living in Seattle during college I became very experimental with my cooking (since I was living alone during that time). My favorite "invention" was a Portabella Bagel Sandwhich, which consisted of a grilled portabella mushroom sauteed in garlic and Olive Oil placed on a whole wheat baged (untoasted) with a smear of cream cheese, sprouts, and a tomato! I would eat this almost daily. During this time, I also had little money to my name (because of college and rent) so I limited myself to about $10 a week on groceries, which I spent mostly in the international district of Seattle, buying my goods in open air Asian and Mexican Markets. I learned how to be very creative with my food and use every last thing... I also lost tons of weight since I mostly cooked vegetarian! (not because Im a vegetarian, its just harder to buy meat and use it all up when single). Now that Im married I have gained a few...
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook mandarin orange chicken, cookies, and my favorite of all time is LAMB. Seriously the yummiest meat ever. I also love to substitute recipes that call for sour cream with non fat fage greek yogurt. Its so much healthier and its just as yummy, seriously, TRY IT!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I dont really have any... I just cook when I want to!
My cooking triumphs
aforementioned portabella sandwhich!
My cooking tragedies
When i first started baking cookies, I would melt the butter to make it easier to mix and i just couldn't figure out WHY my cookies wouldn't turn out right... lol

Chili For Two
I make this chili AT LEAST once a week. Its just so easy to make and so yummy! The only thing I do differently is use regular old black beans instead of chili beans. I just make sure to add some extra chili powder :) super scrumptious!
