Bermuda Fish Chowder

If we could give this a 10*, we would. This was absolutely fabulous. I made a few changes (more jalapenos and added baby clams), but this is perfect as is. Fantastic! Thanks!... this is going into our rotation.

Italian Biscotti

Delicious and looks fabulous (looks professionally made) when drizzled with white chocolate. Decadent! Thanks for a great recipe! Followed the recipe as written (which was perfect), but can see how this would be very versatile, and I'll be trying it with new things!

Dave's Low Country Boil

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
YUM! If you want to overeat - this is the recipe for it! DH and I made this tonight (we cut the recipe in half since it was just two of us), and we ate nearly all of it. Absolutely delicious! We had a great time making this together, as the preparation is fun, and can be done by several people. Also, it is fun, interactive eating as you dump it on the table, crack the crab, etc. Makes great dinner conversation and a real relationship with your food! The only thing I did differently was I added a pound of fresh clams (more shelling!), and 2 tablespoons of garlic (for our personal taste). Warning!... this is a two-hour nap recipe. When you wake up, you'll still be full... in a good way! :-) For those of you that were confused by the recipe because it doesn't specify, I used 6 quarts of water, and 6 ounces of Old Bay Seasoning (an entire 6 oz. container), so that all ingredients in the recipe were entirely covered). The other thing I would do next time is put the potatoes in later - they got a little too mushy for our tastes! Enjoy and bon appetit'! This is a great one all around. Three cheers for interactive eating!

Clams Italiano

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
FABULOUS. Absolutely loved it. I also used 1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes, and it was PERFECT. I usually use Scott Ure's Clams from this site, but I think this recipe is definitely better. The only change I made was to add 2 tablespoons of chopped garlic. Unlike other reviewers, I think the red pepper flakes and 2 cups of white wine is perfect for this recipe - it makes a GREAT dipping sauce for crispy bread like Pugliese, Olive bread or Rosemary bread! Bon appetit - this is phenomenal... thanks for the recipe!

Boston Iced Tea

Very good iced tea! Nice change to plain iced tea, this recipe gives just enough sweetness without being over-powering. I agree with other reviewers, you can experiment with this recipe and try other juices. It's still outstanding! Thanks for a great recipe!

Barbecued Shredded Beef

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
DH and I did not care for this recipe at all. It's very easy to make and calls for ingredients you'll typically find in a kitchen; however, we found it to be far to sweet for our tastes. We used a spicy BBQ sauce, so I'm not sure where the sweetness came in because we didn't divert from the recipe and made it exactly as written. If your family doesn't mind sweet BBQ taste, then this recipe might be for you because it's a breeze to make - which is why I'm warranting it 3 stars. I also agree with another reviewer - the liquid in the recipe is far to much.

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: May 2, 2009
Yum! I'm way to old to be craving corn dogs, but my appetite got the best of me and I craved a corn dog for 3 days. With no local fairs planned for a few months, I tried this recipe. PERFECT!!! Delicious and just the right amount of batter. A few tips: (1) Dry the hotdogs using paper towels prior to dipping to remove all moisture, (2) make sure the oil is not to hot, (3) pour the batter into a tall glass prior to dipping, which will give it that perfect corn dog shape! I have a gas stove, and these were done in 4 minutes (and the batter was done and the hot dog hot!), but your mileage may vary. We used Johnsonville Cheddar Cheese & Jalapeno Sausages, and they were AWESOME. Fun, easy to make, and tastes better than any corn dog you can buy.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
YUM! I agree with another reviewer - this is an extremely forgiving recipe. I messed up and added the 1/4 C. of coffee and 1 T. of coffee liquor to the cake batter by accident (oops!). I feared it would never get done in the center - but it did!... and this cake turned out phenomenal. I also doubled all the liquor throughout the recipe (AND doubled the instant coffee) (and I didn't remove any other ingredients), and this was so great tasting. Lots of coffee taste, very moist and fabulous. Also looked so professional on the plate when sprinkled with cocoa powder and chocolate curls.

Guinness® Corned Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
Planned to take this to a St. Patricks Day party at work, and everyone loved it - said it was the best Corned Beef they'd ever had! I did make one modification to the recipe - I used 1/2 c. of brown sugar instead of a full cup because I really don't care for sweet meat. The 1/2 c. turned out to be perfect, and the Guinness taste was more prominent! LOVED IT!!!

Coconut Tilapia with Apricot Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
YUM! This is a great recipe for Tilapia, which tends to be a very mild and somewhat bland fish. My family is not a fan of main dishes that are sweet, but the coconut on the fish and the spicy/sweet of the side sauce is the perfect compliment to this recipe. We will definitely be keeping this in our 5* recipes for Tilapia!

Sausage Casserole

Delicious! This is extremely flavorful and a great option for breakfast. I used frozen obrien potatoes with green/red peppers and onions, and Italian sausage. The only thing I would do next time is reduce the amount of butter by half. Other than that, a really delicious dish.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
OMG - YUM! This is JUST like Kentucky Fried Chicken coleslaw. I will never buy coleslaw from our grocery store deli again - because this recipe is SIMPLE to make and phenomenal in taste! The ONLY modifications I made is to the split the 2/3 C. of creamy salad dressing with half Mayo and half Salad Dressing (Miracle Whip), and added 1/2 tsp. of celery seed, in addition to the poppy seed it called for. Oh, also I only used 1/4 C. of sugar - figured I could add more later - but I didn't need too - 1/4 C. was MORE than enough. Just right!!! Unless you like super sweet cole slaw, I recommend cutting down the sugar! Well worth time/effort and great for any occassion! Thanks for the great recipe!

Oven Kalua Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I recently made this for a party, and it was a HUGE hit. I've been waiting for months to try a Kalua pork recipe, having visited Hawaii and had real Kalua pork. This recipe is delicious and perfect for a crowd or party - as it makes a lot of food with minimal effort! I did make modifications based on other reviewers suggestions, and have prepared this two different ways. This recipe is best in the oven, NOT a slow cooker - the oven method was much more tender and flavorful. I did make modifications, which I think added tothe recipe. My modifications were as follows: 3 T. minced garlic, 1 T. minced ginger AND increased the Liquid Smoke to 2 T. The additional Liquid Smoke really makes this recipe pop! I will definitely be making this again and again! Several people asked for the recipe. I've tried this both ways - once wrapped with tinfoil (the BEST!) and once wrapped with banana leaves. Both were very, very good. You can't go wrong with this one with the modifications. Be SURE to use Hawaiian Sea Salt... it makes all the difference!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
Holy Schmacks! I'm a harsh critic and was certain I wouldn't rate this 5*, but there was no way I could not. This recipe is phenomenal! Absolutely a hit - both of us had seconds, and ate too much. Just because I had it on hand, I added a cup of barley (the recipe did not need it), I just need to use it - it added a nice texture and didn't harm the flavor at all. Next time, I will add more ham (again, not because the recipe needs it), but who doesn't love more ham? ;-) Absolutely a 100% keeper - we're putting it in our all time favorite soup collection. Thanks for the GREAT recipe.

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
FANTASTIC! I altered the recipe for our tastes (used cooked bacon, one finely chopped jalapeno, and chopped mushrooms). I also used a mixture of feta and gouda cheese (which is what I had on hand), and it was absolutely delicious. I loved other reviewers idea of using a muffin pan and it worked GREAT for my husband and I (there are only two of us), which made packaging them for leftovers a breeze. Thanks reviewers - what a great idea, and thanks to the submitter for a total keeper of a recipe! Love it! A+++

YUM! These are fantastic cookies! I made these cookies for my husband (as I'm not a sweet fan), but these cookies were SSSOOO good - I'm now a huge fan, and have eaten several of them! Perfect in every way. The only thing I did was add a little nutmeg and chopped pecans. NUM - and they cooked perfectly. Definitely a 5* keeper in our house!
