Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
A favorite! We took some other suggestions and added the whole can of pumpkin, an extra dash of pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and subbed out the white flour for whole wheat white and old fashioned oats. I mixed the dry ingredients the night before and we made enough to freeze the leftovers. They were extra tasty with the honey butter found on this site too!

Waikiki Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
My mother in law forwarded this recipe. Apparently she used to make it for my husband when he was little. It had the added benefit of requiring everything we already had that needed used up. So *I* give it 5 stars for that alone. :) DH said it was tasty and I should "add it to the rotation!" Even our 3 year old and 10 month old ate two portions.

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: May 4, 2009
This was fantastic! We all loved this soup to the point of eating the entire thing in one sitting. Even my 8 month old had two bowls of it. The only change we really made was using leftover rice and allspice/cumin in stead of curry (I thought we had some, but we didn't. whoops). I strongly suggest trying this recipe. It was phenomenal!

The Best Bean and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
This was perfect! We ate it on a snowy Sunday using our leftover Christmas Ham. It smelled so heavenly we had to dig into it after it had only cooked for 6 and a half hours. It was still delicious!

Easy Cajun Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
I am giving this 5 stars even though I did that Thing were I barely made the recipes the way it was presented. I used red peppers instead of green, used beef stock in stead of chicken, and added a packet of Uncle Ben's Cajun rice and brown rice instead of white. I didn't do this on purpose, I just used what I had on hand. At any rate it was SO good. We all raved while eating it. It was delicious!

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
This was ok. To quote my husband "I am sure it's someone's favorite meal. Just not mine." We did it the entire thing and I would make it again. I used half chicken stock and half cream of mushroom soup and added mushrooms and garlic to the recipe and served it over brown rice.

French Bread

I wish I knew what happened but I did not care for this bread. I made it twice just to be fair and both times it was flat and unattractive. The texture was off.

Apple Bacon Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
This was delicious. It was truly amazing! We did alter it some. We used fresh pinto beans, fresh tomatoes, doubled the bacon, and used white wine instead of red (we were unexpectedly out). I also omitted the celery because I didn't feel like going to the store. I know it sounds like a lot of changes but really it wasn't. I loved this soup and will make it over and over again.

Pesto Chicken Florentine

This was a so-so hit with my family. They both ate it, but not very enthusiastically. I added some fresh Italian seasonings, but it still seemed bland to me.

My husband loved this. I made it just as the recipe was- he wolfed them down with his fingers. They never even made it to the table.

This was ok. Not spectacular but tasty enough. It was not half as "pretty" as the picture but otherwise all right. Will probably make it again.

We eat this EVER week ever since we discovered it. Both my husband and m two year old devour it as it if they may never see food again. I often omit the sugar and no one notices. If I do use something to sweeten it, I use agave nectar.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
This was delicious. My husband made this (I don't normally like his soup, but I had 2 bowls!) using the leftover Cornish Game Hens we had for Thanksgiving (Cornish Hens with Garlic and Rosemary from this site). He used the boiled hen broth instead of bouillon but otherwise followed the recipe to a T. It was perfect!

This was pretty easy to make. My husband enjoyed it but my son didn't really dig the rhubarb. Which is suprising because he eats everything. It had a good flavor and was "different."

This was excellent. I "kinda" made it according to the directions. I give it 8 stars- largely in part, I think, because instead of cream of mushroom soup I used leftovers from the Creamy Mushroom Soup recipe on this site.

Fragrant Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2004
I made this yesterday for my boyfriend. I changed it a bit as per the reviewers suggestions. I seasoned with lemon pepper under the skin and used carrots instead of celery. I also used a can of chicken broth instead of the water. I did not zest the lemon but instead juiced it and put the juiced slices in the bird with the carrots and apples. I also added potatoes that I mashed after it was done cooking. I stuck in the oven at 350 for an hour at the end to make it pretty. All in all Greg said he liked it, but that it was "way too lemony." He did NOT care for the gravy, although he pretended to. He gave it 4 stars "only because i don't lemon that much. If you like lemon I would say 5." Next time I will cut the lemon pepper a bit and use breasts. Cooking a whole chicken was a huge pain.

Mama D's Italian Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2004
This was excellent. I admit I changed it a great deal... I used honey rather than sugar, and I threw some mozzeralla cheese into the dough along with various spices. I also baked it for 25 min on a pizza stone and followed another reviewers idea of throwing ice in the stove since I didn't have a mister either. It was awesome. Next time I want to add more salt to the dough however. I took to heart others opinions that it was too salty so I cut it down a bit. Mistake! This is excellent bread. So good.
