This recipe gets 10 stars from me. This recipe is unbelievably easy to make for a beginner like myself trying out cake recipes. The cake came out moist and was heavenly! I didn't change a thing with the recipe, except that I didn't have large eggs, so I used 5 medium eggs instead. Wasn't sure how big the cake would turn out, but it was just right for the Mickey Mouse head pan I intended to use and baked it for a total of 40-45 mins. For the frosting, I made chocolate ganache - this made the cake very rich but really good especially for chocolate-olics. For the chocolate ganache, I used 1 lb semi-sweet chocolate, 2 cups whipping cream, 4 TBSPs light corn syrup, 1 TBSP vanilla extract and 3 TBSPs butter. I whipped 3/4 of the ganache for the layers and the rest, poured over the chocolate. Everyone loved the cake and my cousins had seconds. My mom, who bakes cakes often for orders and always critics anything I make in the kitchen, said this was really good, that she asked for the recipe! So that made me really happy!
