About this Cook
My mom was a cooking instructor but I never really learnt much from her coz I was spoiled by her [and my late grandma's] wonderful cooking. I only learnt how to cook several years ago when I let go of the maid [who also happened to be a talented cook] and decided to be more independent and learn new things. Cooking is a wonderful experience! Almost therapeutic and definitely a craft that allows me to be creative.
My favorite things to cook
Baking desserts. I think maybe because that's everybody's favorite part of the meal. I'm learning Asian cooking - easy but a lot of chopping to do.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph was when I successfully made very-difficult-to-make macaron [the french 'burger-like' cookies] at 3am. I must've woken up the whole building when I literally jumped up and down for joy. And before that, making Tiramisu and cheesecakes... People think they're hard to make. They don't realise how easy this can be! :) And when my aunt praised my hard work, that really made me feel good. She constantly tells me that if I can make wonderful desserts, I can cook Asian meals with no problems.
My cooking tragedies
Making pudding over the stove is quite a challenge for me. Most of the time, they come out runny or curdled...

Alienated Blueberry Muffins
These muffins were awesome!!! :D I halved the recipe, used 2 TBSP applesauce and added 2 more TBSP of canola oil. I made some with butter+flour+sugar crumble topping, some without. Both versions were wonderful! I'll be making these again in the future :) but next time, I will spray the paper liners before putting the batter in.

Bread Pudding II
This is like one of the best comfort foods I've had! Not just best tasting but was sooo easy to make. As suggested by the other reviewers, I also cut down on the sugar and sprinkled brown sugar on the top. I am not big on raisins, so I opted that one out. Will try with nuts next time. The only thing different I did was to bake this in a waterbath, like how my mom bakes her bread pudding. My mom loved this one so much that she took a huge portion to work...!
