My mom was a cooking instructor but I never really learnt much from her coz I was spoiled by her [and my late grandma's] wonderful cooking. I only learnt how to cook several years ago when I let go of the maid [who also happened to be a talented cook] and decided to be more independent and learn new things. Cooking is a wonderful experience! Almost therapeutic and definitely a craft that allows me to be creative.
My favorite things to cook
Baking desserts. I think maybe because that's everybody's favorite part of the meal. I'm learning Asian cooking - easy but a lot of chopping to do.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph was when I successfully made very-difficult-to-make macaron [the french 'burger-like' cookies] at 3am. I must've woken up the whole building when I literally jumped up and down for joy.
And before that, making Tiramisu and cheesecakes... People think they're hard to make. They don't realise how easy this can be! :) And when my aunt praised my hard work, that really made me feel good. She constantly tells me that if I can make wonderful desserts, I can cook Asian meals with no problems.
My cooking tragedies
Making pudding over the stove is quite a challenge for me. Most of the time, they come out runny or curdled...
