About this Cook
i'm 35 years old, a california native, but grew up in washington state and recently moved cross-country to rhode island. new england rules.
My favorite things to cook
i love to experiment in the kitchen. my specialty is homemade lasagne and taco soup. i love rich food with delicate presentation.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my family drinks beer for tradition.
My cooking triumphs
i made a great low-fat cheesecake that you wouldn't ever even know was reduced calorie or low fat. it was still rich and gorgeous in color and texture while holding a lightly sweet but still cream cheesey taste.
My cooking tragedies
bacon. i have a hard time cooking bacon for some reason. i think i get freaked out by having to cook it so thoroughly, but one thing i love more than anything is a properly cooked slice of bacon.

Braided Easter Egg Bread
the dough is spot-on. i made two small braids wit an egg each out of half the dough. the other half i used for cinnamon rolls. light and tender - delicious.

Butterscotch Pudding I
delicious! i agree with some of the other reviews: i tempered the egg and reduced the cornstarch. everything else I eyeballed. in the end, I started to get a few lumps, but was able to mix them out easily with a hand-crank egg beater. seriously yummy!

Crumb Cake II
very moist and delicious. i exchanged cloves for allspice and added to the crumb topping about 2tbs shredded coconut and maybe a scant tbs of brown sugar. truly delightful cake.
