About this Cook
My mom (who was a great cook) got sick with brain cancer when I was young. So I started cooking around 12 years old, and she would tell me what to do (atleast what she could remember). Now I'm a happily married mom of 2 picky girls and my husband is even pickier and will eat no leftovers! I need all the help I can get:@
My favorite things to cook
I really like to bake, especially pies. And even though I'm not a big fan of them, I am good at making soup but then again who isn't. My favorite thing to eat is anything from my childhood like peirogies, kolachy, haluski, and anything with white sauce.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Thanksgiving my oldest daughter makes the Amish White Bread recipe at this site. Her little tradition. And the hubby always likes when I make my pies so that is a must.
My cooking triumphs
When I finally made my haluski potato dumplings the right way! Oh yeah, when my fudge came out right. That was a big one.
My cooking tragedies
So many to mention! Although I've been cooking for a long time, I still make many "Tragedies". Ask my family:) But I love to eat and that is what keeps me going. The biggest tradedy that I kept getting thrown into my face is the bland chuncks of chicken that were hard as rocks that I made for dinner not too long ago. How embarressing.

Chocolate Caramel Brownies
I have never rated anything this low. It was the worst disaster ever. It doesn't taste good and the consistency of it was a mess.

Spinach Brownies
I liked it, but no one else did. Though they couldn't give a good reason why. Brats!

Roast Leg of Lamb with Rosemary
I was always afraid of making lamb with it being so expensive and all. I hate to waste anything because if it's not good, these people I live with will not eat it no matter how much it cost! But this was easy and tasted great. I used the left overs to make Irish Lamb Stew which is on this site and it was great as well. Lamb will be a regular on our menu from now on.
