Ham Cheddar Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
The PERFECT comfort soup for a winter day! I used some ideas from prior reviewers by adding in jalepeno's and corn. Wonderful! I also used heavy cream 2 cups and 1 cup water to make it thicker. The cheese is a perfect finish to this soup. Also a great way to use up any left over veggies! Thanks!

Christmas Broccoli Salad

Very good salad. Loved how the flavors blend after a day or so. Ended up eating the entire thing over a weeks time. Good way to get in the veggies! :D Thanks!

Rich and Creamy Roasted Eggplant Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
This was pretty good..I increased the eggplant to 2, and used beef broth instead of chicken (didn't have any). The taste is good, however, I guess I was thinking that the soup would be a bit chunkier. Instead it came out with the consistency of a Tomato soup. Overall, I would use this as an appetizer soup rather than a meal. It's just not enough for my family to use as a dinner soup. Thanks!

Artichoke and Sun-Dried Tomato Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
These are a great and very easy appetizer to make. The only issue I had with this was making it into 24 servings. The shells come 6 to a package, which means you have to cut each one into 1/4ths, and that just makes a mess out of them. I left them whole and served that way. Flavor was great and I added more sundried tomatoes for extra flavor.. very good and will use again! :)

Baby BLT

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
These are a great little surprise! Got some unsure faces from the family, but once they tasted them, they couldn't get enough of them! Very YUMMY and different from your average appetizer. Served cold, the more your chew on these the more the flavor melds together! Wonderful! I let the filling sit overnight in a covered bowl and added about 1 tbsp more of mayo before filling. Thanks!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
Great icing recipe! This is my first time using this type of icing, and I found it to be very easy to mix and 'paint' on each sugar cookie. It also was easy to work with in a pastry bag. Held it's form even through drying, and didn't run with other colors. I will be using this recipe in the future.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
These were ok. I bit unflavorful, but I'm not sure if it as because I used whole wheat/white flour or that I didn't add any extra flavorings. Oh well, they still went at the office with many compliments on the cut outs. Rolled out great, I had the dough on a floured surface cut beautifully! I might try again using regular flour. Thanks!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
This came out very dry. Followed the directions, with the only change being the Saltines. I didn't have any so had to use breadcrumbs. I don't think this would make a drastic difference in the outcome. Did not have a brown sugar taste, in fact there was an overpowring flavor of the ketchup on the bottom of the pan. I feel my meatloaf is better. sorry.

Thick Cut-Outs

I wanted to make these cookies but because of the egg confusion (10 eggs total?) I didn't. If the poster could clarify, that would be great. Thanks!

Lemon Snowballs

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
REFRESHING! A nice little cookie that really bursts with lemon flavor! If you are looking for a more subtle lemon taste, omit the rinds. I rolled in confect. sugar, placed on platter then for extra presentation, sifted more sugar on top. Very pretty cookies! Reminds me of the Lemon Coolers cookies that Nabisco used to make! Only better! Thanks!

Greek Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
This is an extremely easy cookie to make! Crunchy like a shortbread, yet when you eat it melts in your mouth. I agree with the others when you should double the vanilla and almond flavors. When rolling out the dough, I suggest 'flouring' hands with the confectioners sugar after making every "S" cookie. this makes it super easy to roll. I was surpised how easy it was to make the S shape. I got 23 cookies out of this batch since I made them a bit bigger. Excellent recipe, will definately use again!

Storybook Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
Since this was my first attempt at making Gingerbread Men, I found this recipe extremely easy to make AND roll out. The dough was glossy and smooth, on a lightly floured surface rolled out perfectly! Lifted up with no effort, and I agree with the recommendation to use a wide spatula. Flavor was good, not too overpowering. Just right mixture of ginger and molasses. Decorated with Royal Icing recipe from this site, and it was tons of fun for my 7yr old! She was amazed at how good they came out! Thanks!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
These cookes baked up wonderfully! I loved the recipe but made some minor changes. I used 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening along with 1/2 cup butter. Then added 1/4 tsp cinnamon. I had milk chocolate mini hershey kisses so that kinda alters the flavor a bit. However NOT in a bad way! :) Baked at exactly 10 min then cooled for 2 min more, they came out delicious! I didn't have to add the cream of tartar to make them crackly, they did that on their own. I've added my pic to show. Thanks for the recipe! I will use this one from now on!

Turkey Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
What a great, quick, healthy recipe! I had to figure out a way to use up the rest of my Thanksgiving Turkey, and found this little gem! I had a bag of frozen veggies from Trader Joes' and Wheat Spaghetti. The only thing I changed was that I used fresh chopped garlic and sea salt. Absolutely yummy! My picky 7 yr old even loved it! Thanks!

Pepperoni Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Delish, Delish, DE-LISH! These came out like little pizzas in a 'shroom! I was able to make the stuffing part the night before, and it held up perfectly. I used little pepperoni snack sticks to dice up.Big sticks would have been way too hard to dice into small pieces. Followed directions exactly. No need for subsitutions! All of these went!!! THANKS!

Cranberry Baklava

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Oh my gosh!! What can I say about this dessert!! Well, for one, it's totally delectible! Time consuming, but easy enought. I was a bit confused with the wording of instructions. It could have been me, but still came out perfect! I used fresh cranberries from my aunts Cape Cod bogs, organic sugar and honey. I only used 3/4c of honey. I felt that 1 1/2c was wayy too much. I'm glad I did. It was way sweet and sticky enough with all that honey. WOW! GREAT recipe!!! Thanks!

Carla's Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This recipe is the best as far as I'm concerned. I tried omitting the Extra Creamy Coolwhip, but it seemed to be missing something. So I added about 1/2 the container (6 oz?) to the mix, and voila'! Perfect! My daughter went through 4 bananas eating this dip! She couldn't get enough! I used Bananas, Pineapple, Strawberries and Fuji,Grannysmith apples. Addictive!!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

I have to say, I was kind of leery making this recipe. However, after doing so, I am absolutely THRILLED with the results! ALL of the flavors blend perfectly! It got rave reviews at my T-Day Table, and there was about 1cup of leftovers!! This will be the only stuffing recipe I use from now on! WONDERFUL!
