After reading another bloggers story concerning  “Sunday Dinners” I began thinking back to memories of my childhood.  My parents divorced when I was 2 years old.  I don’t remember them being together so the divorce didn’t immediately have an effect on me.   As the years… MORE

About this Cook
I am a happily married stay at home mom. I love spending time with my husband whether it is just staying at home watching movies or going out shopping. I love to cook and try new recipes. My husband is a very picky eater and he doesn't eat much of a variety. I mainly cook for myself since my daughter is less than a year old so I enjoy making recipes that are small so there is not much waste.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake cookies, cakes and other sweet treats but I try to avoid making too many because I want to eat too much of them! :) I am also an avid bread maker and enjoy trying out new bread recipes. I also love tex-mex and italian recipes. Lately I have been experimenting with new seasonings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite memories are those of baking around the holidays when I was a child. My grandmother would always make the best pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My mother made the best Turkey and Dressing and Scallopped Potatoes that are to die for. I still enjoy cooking around the holidays. I can't wait until my little one(s) are old enough to help me in the kitchen and start our own family traditions.
My cooking triumphs
Everytime I make a recipe that turns out great I consider that a triumph. So I have many triumphs in the kitchen.
My cooking tragedies
Recently it was cooking a hamburger and it looked perfectly done on the outside but was raw inside. Yuck!

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
Total splurge! Very fattening but oh so good. I love the way the jelly tastes warm with the gooey peanut butter! Yummy!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
This is by far the best apple pie I have ever tasted. I think it should be called Caramel Apple Pie by Grandma Ople because it has the best caramel flavor! I guess I am in the minority for those who don't care for cinnamon that much. I was happy the recipe didn't have cinnamon. I read some of the one star reviews and am shocked some folks don't like this. I can only guess it must be either... 1. They want cinnamon in the pie or 2. They don't like apples or finally 3. They don't know how to cook that well. This pie is very forgiving. I didn't have granny smith apples so I used Gala and I even halved the recipe and it came out perfect. The syrup was more liquidy wen it came out of the oven but allow it to sit for about 15 minutes and it will set up more.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
Wowzers! I think I finally found my signature chocolate chip cookie recipe! This one rocks! First of all I made the recipe dough exactly as listed with the exception of the chips. I divided the base dough and added to one half 1 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of chopped pecans. To the other half I added 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup peanut butter chips. Both were exceptional! This recipe produces a beautiful cookie! Big, crisp and golden brown on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The cookie is very chunky and full of chips! This one is a winner! Don't hesitate for a moment to try it! Your sweet tooth will thank you!
