Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
My kids and father in law loved this dish! The only changes I made to the recipe were to add about 1/4 cup minced red onion and I used 1/2 a block of Cracker Barrel cheddar cheese (I had it on hand). It was awesome! I also cooked this in the microwave because I knew it would take too long in the oven. Cooked about 20 mins on med-high power and last 10 on high. Perfection!

Easy Pesto

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
This was exactly what I was looking for. The basic instructions for creating pesto. This recipe was great. I used walnuts instead of toasted almonds and measured more by eye than exact measurements. It turned out great! It was also very good with chicken. Thank you!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
I am not certain if I mismeasured somewhere along the line but my dough was very sticky. Even after adding a lot more flour, it still seemed very sticky. I went with it anyway and it actually baked up pretty crispy. I baked my pizza on a pizza stone first and then finished it in a 400 degree oven on the middle oven rack. Even though it ended up good, I don't think I'll make this one again. I think I'm accustomed to the dough that needs to rise before baking. Thanks!

Men Love This Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I made this topper for our london broil and served it on the side. My father in law loved it! I didn't buy fresh red peppers because I had a jar of roasted ones and it was still great. Love the combo with these ingredients.

Roasted New Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
I substituted Italian seasoning for the other herbs and drizzled the potatoes with olive oil and salt and pepper. Then I "jump started" them in the microwave on the potato setting. I put them in the oven for the last 1/2 hour of my chicken cooking and blasted them with the broiler for a quick browning on the top. These potatoes were crisp on the outside and nice and soft in the middle. Delicious! Received rave reviews from everyone! I served these with a roast chicken and it was delightful.

Strawberry Shortbread Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
This was alright. I tried substituting a shortbread crust that was homemade and it ruined the pie. Go for the good old store made standby for this and you'll be good to go.

Robust Garlic Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
This was outstanding! The chicken was moist and flavorful. The kitchen smelled soooo good when it was cooking! I am definitely going to continue to use this method for cooking my chickens from now on. It was fantastic! And it's good enough for company. Serve with a nice salad and some bread and you've got yourself a meal!

Sangria! Sangria!

This was very good! My guests really liked it and it was easy to put together. I made it only hours before my party and it was still good. Definitely would be better the next day though. I'll keep this one on hand for our next "happy hour". Thanks!

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
This was outstanding! I am still getting requests for the recipe. I cooked this for a group of 20 people. I cooked the chicken the night before and purchased chicken tenders to make it easier for prep. I sliced the chicken and bagged it. I cooked the bacon after that and bagged it with paper towels to keep it crisp and reserved some bacon grease for the following day. The next day, I cooked the sauce in one pot and cooked the remaining ingredients together and added some bacon grease to the mixture for a little more flavor. I combined the ingredients with the chicken until the chicken was heated through. Before I put the chicken in a chafing dish, I added the sauce to the mixture and tossed. It was absolutely delicious! I think if I made it again, I would try using procuitto. But this is fabulous! A+ And GREAT for a buffet!

Date Nut Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
My father in law asked for Date Nut Bread last Thanksgiving. It was something his mom had made for him when he was a kid and he always loved it. It's been years since he has had it and this was the closest thing he's had to his mom's. He loved it. And so did every one who tried it. Thanks so much for such a great recipe!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
Outstanding! I did a quick search for a chili recipe before heading out to the store and thought, how could this be so good with so little effort? I was 100% wrong! This is the EASIEST, Tastiest chili recipe ever. We actually used cubed london broil instead of ground beef and cooked it for an extra 30-45 mins. It was perfect! Can't wait for leftovers today! My husband and I are hooked! Thanks for a great recipe Deb!

Fresh Strawberry Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2002
I've never had strawberry pie before, but had plenty of strawberries and no idea what to do with them. This was a HUGE hit with my friends and their children, all 4 kids 4 and under. I used a shortbread crust too and cut back a little bit on the sugar (my strawberries were very ripe) and it was absolutely delicious!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

These biscuits were exactly as the author stated "huge mongo biscuits!" They were delicious. I did add about 2 tablespoons of extra flour, my batter was a bit too moist, but they came out perfect!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2001
This was outstanding! I have never had much success with pot roast before. At the end of cooking, to make a nice rich gravy, I melted some butter and added about 2 tablespoons of flour and some gravy master to make a roux. Then I added the gravy from the roast and brought it to a boil. It made the best gravy ever! I would definitely make this again. My one year old loved it and my husband, who is not a big fan of pot roast gave it rave reviews!
