Washabinaros Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
This was excellent chili - not hot at all. I doubled the washabi and used 3 green chilis. 1 can kidney and 2 cans pinto. Prefect!

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I took some others advice and increase the pumpkin to 30 oz and increased the cream cheese in the frosting to 8 oz. These bars are great - they are sticky and soft like the inside of a pumpkin pie, but cakey enough to hold their shape on a plate. I have made them several times as a hostess gifts and they have always disappeared quickly.

Cranberry Apple-Nut Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
This was an excellent pie if you like spices - it tastes like like the best Potpourri smells. I used chopped almonds so it had a little more of a crunch in each bite and doubled the cinnamon. In addition to the orange peel I added a healthy squeeze of the orange, fabulous flavor.

German Spaetzle Dumplings

I bought a ricer just for this dish. I made a huge mess of it and what was left was bland. I will not make again.

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
This was great in burritos, but needs a lot more green chilis to stew with. It makes a lot of meat, so will make burritos to freeze next time.

These didn't taste right at all. Way to cakey. We are at 7500 ft, so will just have to give up chocolate chip if I cannot find a different recipe.

Corn and Zucchini Melody

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
This was good, but the bacon and cheese really defeat the "healthiness" of veggies. The second time I made it with just corn, zucchini, onions - added 1 tbsp bacon grease and 1 tbsp olive oil - seasoned with garlic salt and pepper. Sautéed, was prefect and both of my boys loved it!

This was easy - however all of my swiss cheese escaped during the "simmer" time. I used fat free half/half to reduce calories, was still great!!!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

This was an excellent and easy recipe - I replaced the .5 cup of sugar with 6 packets of Sweet-N-Low and the sauce tasted great and had the same consistency. That reduced the calories by 64 per piece - So 150 per serving.

Super-Simple, Super-Spicy Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
This was very good and easy! I did change a little by adding one yellow onion (sliced) and doubled the red pepper and did not use the sugar. I added the green onions at the end so that they kept their crunch. MUST use very thinly sliced beef!

Best Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
Without any sauce in the meat - the innards fell out when eaten. I added 2 tbsp of Szechuan sauce to the meat, which binds everything together perfectly and give a great flavor. I have used to recipe with both ground chicken and ground pork. I usually make 2 batches at a time and fry half the batch at just 3 minutes. They go into the freezer and are reheated at 350 for 5 minutes. Prefect crispy taste!
