Previously known as LynnInTokyo, I've just moved to Hong Kong after five and half years in Tokyo. Before Tokyo I lived in Singapore for almost three years. Both Singapore and Tokyo are abundant with food culture and interesting restaurants, and I can't wait to find out what Hong Kong has to offer in terms of unique culinary experiences. The delimma for me, however, is ever present: do I go out to try a new restaurant or do I stay in and try to make a new recipe? The compromise is to eat out on weekends and cook on weekdays. I find cooking to be a good way to relax, from menu planning to grocery shopping to the laboring in the kitchen, to the final plating and presentation, it's always different, always fun. I love cooking, period. I buy a cookbook everywhere I go so my collection is quite impressive and I flip through them regularly to look for things to make. But I do have a weak spot for cakes, pastries and yeast breads. Since family is now only hubby and I plus dog, and we always end up traveling on holidays, I guess our family tradition is making breakfast (french toast, dutch babies, pancakes, crepes) on weekends.
