Cherry Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
These are quick and awesome. I've used different kinds of pie filling, and they all work. (Raspberry was a hit in my house) I had to bake a while longer than listed, but it was worth the wait!

Baked Spaghetti Squash with Beef and Veggies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2007
Pretty good! My husband loved it! It was my first time making spaghetti squash, and I thought it was pretty cool. My three year old would have eaten more of it if it hadn't been for the tomatoes. Thanks for the great recipe! Oh - hint - I cooked the squash about five minutes less, so that it wouldn't be too soft to mix in with everything.

Herbed New Potatoes

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
This was excellent! All the great taste of a baked potato with much less fat. My potatoes were really small, so I just halved them instead of peeling a strip. They were really excellent!

Garlic Asparagus with Lime

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
This was fantastic! The only thing I substitued was white onion for the shallots. My husband thought this was the best asparagus he'd ever had. Thanks for the great recipe!

Split Pea and Ham Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2007
Excellent and easy! I used a black forest ham that was on sale at the grocery store and cut it into cubes, and it still tasted great. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Rice Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2007
Great for the whole family! The only things I did different (because I didn't get a chance to go to the store) was use regular chopped onions instead of green ones, and I added about a half cup of sour cream to the sauce. It was excellent, and even my three year old loved it! Thanks for sharing!

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
Really, really good. I did use my own meatballs, and I had to omit the carrots and peppers because I didn't have time to run out, but the sauce itself was great. Maybe a little thick, I would use less cornstarch next time, but no changes to the flavour. Great recipe, thanks for sharing!

Creamy Pesto Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
This is an excellent and easy recipe. I like to use half the butter, as it can end out a little greasy depending on the oil content in the pesto you use. It's also great with chicken instead of shrimp. Thanks for sharing!

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

These are fabulous! Not too sweet, but very lemony. They go over great at every event I bring them to, and they are so easy to make. Thanks for sharing!

Cherry Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
Very good, but very sweet. I usually have a little trouble with the baking time, as the middle layer doesn't set properly. I also use the cherry juice to make pink frosting. Very yummy, I've made these many times.

Banana Split Snack Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
This cake is beyond fabulous. I took it out of the oven and couldn't wait to have a bite. I did double the cake part of the recipe, as the first batch didn't cover my pan, but I see now it probably would have worked. It's sticky, gooey and delicious and the best alternative to the overdone banana bread.

Potato Ginger Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2006
The flavour combination was good, but the texture kind of turned me off. I used less mushrooms than the recipe called for, and the texture when pureed was pretty gummy. And the green onions didn't really go with the flavour. I did find that it was really good with cheese.

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2006
Wow! I used this recipe for a couple of 3 pound fryer chickens, and it worked great. Really great for preparing the day before. The amount of flavour surprised me, and the gravy was superb. (although use water to thin your gravy, chicken stock made it a little salty) I will definitely use this next time I make a chicken or turkey. Also, I didn't have a pail, so I used my really huge stock pot.

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
I submitted this recipe several years ago, but I still make this all the time. I no longer use so much butter, I half it, and I use half and half instead of heavy cream. This is also great as a clam chowder, with a can of drained baby clams added to it. Still great the next day, great blended, and goes perfect with a good sourdough bread. Quick and easy, still perfect for my house!

Christmas Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
What an excellent time saver recipe! I made this for my extended family for Christmas morning, and it was a huge hit. There are bacon and mushroom haters, so I left out the mushrooms and used ham instead of bacon. I ended up tripling the recipe, and it still disappeared!

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
This is excellent, and pretty easy to make. The ladyfingers that I found weren't very thick, so I didn't halve them, and it worked out perfectly to have two layers of everything in a 9x13 pan. And I did "drizzle" like others had suggested, but I also used a pastry brush to put the coffee/rum on the cookies. Excellent, and I will definitely make again!

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
Made this chili last night - wow! The only difference I had was that I made small cubes of beef out of a roast, I didn't have ground, and it was fabulous. The meat turned out tender, and what flavour! One of those things you can't stop eating, even though it's spicy. My husband loved it! Great for a cold Canadian evening!

Monkey Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2003
My husband ate the entire Bundt pan full in about 3 days....the small taste that I had told me why. This stuff is fabulous, and I agree with all the people who didn't want to use store bought biscuits, make this from scratch. Next time I will be sure to put the cake pan underneath when I invert the pan, I don't want to clean up that gooey mess again!
