Yeast Pancakes

We really didn't like these. The flavor was not yeasty in a pleasant way at all. With enough syrup, the children ate most of them, but there were some left untouched which I had to feed to the chickens. That never happens with pancakes around here, and I've occasionally made some hockey pucks, lol.

Sunday Morning Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes

I double the recipe, except the baking powder/soda. They cook up delicate and fluffy, and absolutely delicious. I like to use the powdered lemon peel from penzys, mixed in with the dry ingredients. Lovely flavor! Tastes great paired with seedless raspberry jam.

Oaty Cereal Bars

The taste was good, but it was too skimpy an amount for a 9x13 pan. I've had these before, and they were always thick, maybe an inch thick. Some other recipes scale the amount to 10 cups of cereal for a pan! I like the idea, but I'll try a recipe with lots more cereal next time.

Blueberry Buckle

Very good. I added vanilla, and I doubled for a 9x13. It took 55 minutes at 350. Can't wait to have it again!

Cheddar-Thyme Flaky Biscuits

Instead of thyme, I put in ranch seasoning, and replaced part of the milk with ranch dressing. OH WOW. So tasty. The texture of these biscuits is quite good. They are light and fluffy, not heavy hard hockey pucks! Definitely making again!

Barbecue Beef Cups

This is such a great recipe for pot lucks. We have lunch with a large group from church every Sunday, and these are a hit. I've been making them for several years now, and have tried a few different types of biscuits - all of them have turned out well!

Oatmeal Waffles

Wonderful! Also great subbing wheat flour for part of it. We've also tried adding blueberries or chocolate chips, and it's just great! I love that these waffles stay crisp - other recipes seem to get soggy a couple minutes after they're out of the waffle iron, but these stay nice!

Breakfast Pizza

Really good! I had a pre-made pizza crust which was 16 inches, so I used 5 eggs. I didn't have any hash browns on hand, so I grated a couple potatoes. This recipe is very versatile. I've made it bacon and onions, and I also enjoy the flavor of adding some powdered mustard to the eggs. My husband loved it!

Banana Oat Muffins

Hearty, tasty, easy - a great winter breakfast. Two bananas was just the right amount. Like others, I subbed applesauce and brown sugar. Will be making this many many times!

Rum Sauce

Oh...so good. I made this to go over an apple crisp with ice cream. I didn't have half and half, so I used what I had, mostly whole milk plus a little coffee creamer. Hey, it worked. So so so yummy.

Orange Sherbet Salad

We've been making this recipe every Easter and Thanksgiving for at least thirty years. First we drain the juice from the can of mandarin oranges, then add water to that to equal two cups. Wonderful, classic, pretty!

Thumbprint Cookies I

If you roll in sugar instead of walnuts, don't use the egg white. The one I did without egg white (I forgot at first) came out prettier and better than all the rest. The egg white gave the others a strange crust. I'm sure it's great with walnuts, though. Great taste to these cookies!

Pumpkin Waffles with Apple-Cranberry Relish

This is a review of the waffles only, as I did not make the relish. Fabulous! Wonderful flavor, easy to make, very good texture. I made these for company, and they were very well received. What a nice breakfast for autumn! Next time I will serve with some sautéed apples.

Peanut Butter Fudge IV

Fabulous! Fudge this easy shouldn't taste this good. I'm submitting some to the county fair. I like it with half crunchy and half creamy pb. UPDATE: I won a blue ribbon for this fudge!

Mexican White Sauce

All our favorite Mexican restaurants in Virginia serve a version of this white sauce. Each restaurant makes it slightly differently. This recipe is *close*, but not exactly right. I can't put my finger on it, and may have to resort to begging/bribing a waiter to spill the beans. Clearly, whatever is in it can't be expensive or difficult to find, or they wouldn't all be serving it...such a mystery!
