Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
Omitted the garlic salt (too much salt in the soy sauce anyway), used about a tsp of minced garlic and used medium amber maple syrup to be exact and wow is this good. I love how everything beautifully plays off of each other. The soy sauce, the garlic, the maple. You can taste it all. I'm not usually one for sweet dishes but I love this. It's not super sweet but a bit mildly sweet instead. So unless someone just hates anything sweet they'd probably like this. Definitely something I will be making again and again.

Oatmeal Waffles

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
Delicious. I didn't find them to be heavy or too plain. If you don't sift the flour, sift it then measure it. It should make it lighter. I didn't use molasses or oil in these. Instead I used honey and applesauce. All I had was extra thick rolled oats so I threw them into the blender to cut them up a bit that way they were finer. Love how nutritious these are. Topped them with a few puréed strawberries even though they're perfectly fine plain. Will try adding cinnamon and vanilla next time as I think that would make them even more yummy.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This is the best banana bread ever! If you love bananas you'll love this. The bread is very moist and has this strong banana flavour that I just can't resist. Made some changes though after we first made it (following the recipe exactly, of course). 1) used applesauce in place of the butter and 2) cut the sugar to 1/2 cup. It was really sweet the first time. A bit too much for me. Now it's just right. Still sweet but this is after all a sweet bread. =P Will try it with whole wheat flour next time and update with how that went.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
Wow. These are delicious. I wish I had tried these sooner. Definitely great for pumpkin lovers like me. ;) Great plain and even cold. I must admit though. I didn't follow the recipe exactly. I used half white flour and the other half whole wheat flour and I used apple cider vinegar instead as that was all I had on hand. I also omitted the oil completely and used almond milk instead of cow's milk. I'll definitely be making these often. Though someday I'm going to try it completely with whole wheat flour as I prefer it over white.

Peach & Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
I LOVE this! Definitely something that I will be having often. We used fresh peaches instead of canned and, as for the exact kind of grapefruit we used, we used a large pink grapefruit. We also added a few ice cubes because it wasn't cold enough for my liking (we didn't chill the fruit long enough). Sometime I'm going to try freezing the fruit. I think that would give it a nice texture. Grapefruit juice may be omitted sometimes because I might not want anything citrus-y. It's great with it though! Not too strong. Not something you can miss either. *laughs*

Gingerbread Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
These are delicious. I've had them a few times already. Always plain as they're so good they don't need anything else. Had them both the way written and with some changes. I'll keep making them with my changes though. I've only made two and they are 1) I used sifted whole wheat flour instead of white and 2) omitted the butter entirely. I didn't find the butter to be necessary at all. It is hard to tell when they're done since they're so dark. So it might be best to time it and write it down somewhere (which I still have to do). And as some others have said, they will become a bit crispy as they cool down. Will definitely be making these again and again.

Brazilian White Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
This has instantly become my favourite kind of rice. The taste is deliciously subtle. I thought it was going to be a bit stronger. It's perfect for those times when I don't want anything strong (I'm picky with such things). I couldn't help but eat every last grain even though when I tried it I wasn't that terribly hungry. haha This is definitely something I will be making often.

Italian Herb Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
Absolutely delicious! I used Parmesan instead of Romano cheese. This is definitely a recipe that we will be making over and over again. Whole family loves it. After trying a slice I went back to get more and one of the loaves was almost gone! Thank you very very much for this recipe.
