This chili is awesome! I have brought it to a few school functions and earn rave reviews everytime. My modifications are: adding an additional can of chilies and sauteing long enough to get the heat into the chili, I also add the jalapenos in the last stage of simmering to keep most of the heat down, oddly enough. My beans are also 1/2 drained in the can to keep some starch in the chili, but not too much.
Finally, I serve jalapenos on the side for those that want it.
