About this Cook
I'm a single guy who gets tired of pot pies and spaghetti. i have been making slow cooker chili and soups. I've learned alot since joining here. I've done things i never thought I could do.
My favorite things to cook
Spaghetti, tacos, chili, soups, lasagna. One day I'll try a casserole, or my moms awesome green bean casserole. Yes, I'm a novice, but I like trying new things. I have managed to keep disasters to a minimum, and I have yet to cause a fire!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mexican. My mom made the most wonderful tacos, including her own homemade shells. They were kind of chewy, and that meant that the taco didn't snap in two when you bit into it. BTW, any decent Mexican will tell you that lettuce doesn't belong on a taco. Keep it to onion, FRESH tomato, cheese, salsa, and ok, sour cream if you like.
My cooking triumphs
Not burning the kitchen down. Also, had surprising luck with a beef tenderloin. Pasta dishes are among my favorites. Since joining Allrecipes, I have had a wonderful learning experience. I made an awesome lasagna, slow cooker meals, and things that even the moms compliment me on.
My cooking tragedies
Slow cooker hell. When I first started with a slow cooker, I put the macaroni in at the start, and also the rice one time. Needless to say, it turned to mush.

Quinoa and Black Beans
Nice recipe. Quinoa has quickle become my favorite grain. I normally load up on the onion; I think it compliments the quinoa.
