I was quite the baker when I was younger. Every weekend, I would bake cakes, cookies and pies that my family would enjoy throughout the week. After I moved out of the house, my Dad asked my Mom why she never baked anymore. My Mom looked at him as if he grew two heads. “Dave, I never baked, that was Mary.”
Now, I cook for a teenager and it’s not easy. She is ALWAYS hungry and I feel really bad for anyone who has more than one teenager in their house. My biggest dilemma is looking for snack type foods that are
healthy.
My favorite things to cook
I like to make '70s type cooking food, although, I do make a few additional meals, like fettucine alfredo, tex-mex, that my Mom didn't make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family lives in WI and I live in FL. Whenever we visit each other, we make a nice big tupperware dish full of Tuna Fish salad (with the seashells, peas, scallions) and serve with Kaiser rolls. All you have to do is grab a plate and fork after a long flight and catch up with the family gossip!
My cooking triumphs
My chili should be award winning! I should enter a contest.
My cooking tragedies
Unfortunately, since I've moved to FL, I am not as great of baker as I use to be. I keep telling myself it's my oven, but I think part of me finds that I am more distracted and I don't concentrate on the measuring part as I use to.
