During the 4th of July weekend, my MIL and I traded plants. She received a Moss Phlox (Emerald Blue),  Creeping Phlox (Purple), Dwarf Shasta Daisy, and a Bleeding Heart that I grew myself. :) I received a handful of Indian Blankets, Yarrow, Gay-Feathers, and a whole bunch of Foxglove. So… MORE

About this Cook
Well I guess its time to change my profile again. About me... well what do you want to know? Some basic info about me. I'm 26 years old. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Texas when I was 6. I was a medic in the Army for about 3 years. I worked in Korea for a year and a year with the Sapper Leader Course in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. My husband, Gary who is 16 years my senior, and I were in the same battalion so we met through a mutual friend. I have 2 daughters, Josceline 4 years old and Lindsay 16 months. Husband is still in the Army so now I'm a miltary wife/stay at home mom in West Virginia. I enjoy gardening, reading, and playing with my kidlets. I curse worse than a sailor so just don't pay attention to me if cursing offends you. You can usually find me on the AR Exchange or outside. I LOVE ALLRECIPES and have learned so much about cooking. A little about my cooking experience. I've been cooking since I was 14 but never had to cook for a family until I reached my 20s.
My favorite things to cook
Almost anything but desserts. I believe desserts are evil and is the devil's way of making me fat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
With my kidlets, I like to cook with them. With my family growing up, we had no cooking traditions.
My cooking triumphs
Anything that isn't a tragedy.

Vanilla Crepes
Very good crepe recipe. I was so glad that the crepes didn't stick to the pan. For the filling, I used 4 oz cream cheese, 4 oz sour cream, 2 T sugar, 1/4 tsp vanilla, 1/2 can of blueberries (10 oz), and 1 tsp lemon juice (all measurements are estimated). Threw everything in a small food processor, filled crepes, and topped with a sprinkling of powdered sugar.

Swedish Meatballs I
This was ok but I thought it was a bit bland. I used homemade cream of chicken and had to substitute cream of wheat for Malt O Meal.

Jen's Fresh and Spicy Salsa
This tasted great. I only used 1 pepper and a couple of swigs (maybe 1-2 tsp) of Tabasco for kidlet's sake. This will come in handy when the tomatoes start to ripen.
