About this Cook
I'm a RN with 4 adult kids and a husband that all have different food preferences. All 3 of my daughters are vegetarian(2 are college students and still live at home). My husband and son feel it really isn't dinner unless there is meat on their plate...I can go either way. As you can imagine, every family dinner is a challenge to please everyone!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about everything. In the all too short Wisconsin summers we love to grill out every night. During the very long, cold winters I enjoy making long simmered comfort foods such as pot-roast, stews, soups and my newest obsession...homemade bread and rolls.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite cooking traditions have to be making the same holiday dishes that my grandma and mom made when I was growing up. Even though I try to mix it up a bit by throwing in a new recipe every holiday the kids will balk if the old traditional dishes are not on the table.
My cooking triumphs
Triumphs have to be winning the battle I had going on with the rolling pin and making friends with yeast! It was a long road but well worth the trip. And of course every time I hear my mom or my kids or my husband say to someone that I'm a wonderful cook my heart swells with joy!
My cooking tragedies
Too many tragedies to list...the Easter bunny rolls that looked adorable but were like rocks, the big pot of chili that I burned on the bottom and the burnt flavor permeated the whole dish, the stuffed chicken breasts I kept warming too long and they had the flavor/texture of sawdust...you get the idea. Live and learn and most importantly practice, practice, practice!!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I
This is very good when you have been working all day. I added more mushrooms and have used both cream cheese and sour cream with good results.

Pork Chop and Cabbage Casserole
We did not care for this at all. There are so many more flavorful dishes you can create with pork chops and cabbage.

Amish Macaroni Salad
This was WAY too sweet...probably would be good with a tablespoon or two of sugar.
