About this Cook
I usually have no time as I am a part time student, work part time, and then babysit my adorable nephews the rest of my time and traveling to the northwoods' of wisconsin on the weekends for camping and fishing. I am usually cooking dinner for my boyfriend and I at around 9 or 10 at night. My boyfriend Luke likes sweets and classics like chicken pot pie, apple pie and scalloped potatoes. I like to get a little more creative with dishes that are more complex, not as common, or ethnic.
My favorite things to cook
Casseroles, cakes, cookies, pies, pastas, mexican, all things baked, and anything basic things like bread from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Boiled dinner, chicken dumpling soup and plain macaroni with tomato juice were almost weekly dinners growing up. Holiday dinners were big with two turkeys, one in the deep fryer, one in the oven, deviled eggs, homemade mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cucumber tomato salad, and mandarin orange cake
My cooking triumphs
Pie crust and fudge
My cooking tragedies
meringue, I can never get it right! I am still working on many candies and breads... but I will get it perfect one of these days!

Chocolate Banana Cream Pie
This is my boyfriends favorite pie, and sometimes I must make two just to get a piece for myself! Everyone who has ever tried it raves and raves about how fantastic it is! I sometimes use a little less coconut, and often make my own crust with the french pastry crust recipe from this site, with a little cinnamon (1 tsp) added to the crust. I used hershey dark chocolate baking squares for the chocolate in this recipe and always make my own whipped cream with sugar, vanilla, and stabilizer. Always turns out perfect!! A must make pie for any occassion! You can dress it up nicely by piping the cream on top or making chocolate shavings to place around the edges.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese
This turned out wonderful! I followed it very closely, only using medium cheddar in place of the american cheese. Yes it does seem like a lot of cheese before it goes into the oven, but it comes out of the oven beautifully. It would be easily modified to taste by adding any number of veggies like peas or even broccoli. Next time I make, which will be very soon, I am going to add diced ham. It may need a little seasoning, and at least a little mustard zips it up. I think that different cheeses in place of the american would be a great way to change it up too! Love it!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream
My boyfriend loved this dish and now claims it is his all time favorite thing I make. Along with angel hair pasta instead of bowties, I used a bit more cream than called for and i like it extra spicy with the red pepper flakes. I cannot recommend this recipe enough.
