About this Cook
I live with my wonderful husband, two beautiful little girls, our dog, Luke, and our cat, Chatty. We love being outside and recently have conquered the task of riding bikes without training wheels and now get to enjoy family bike rides that don't include Daddy pulling kids in the trailer. It is quickly becoming one of our favorite activities.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that only requires two cooking dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making a flag cake on the Fourth of July and chili on Halloween.
My cooking triumphs
The fact that my food is edible and requested.
My cooking tragedies
My daughter's second birthday block cake. I didn't bake the cake long enough, therefore the cake was sagging and I couldn't get the blocks to look square regardless of how much frosting I used. I ended up having to buying a princess cake at the grocery store at the last minute.

Creamy Hot Cocoa
This was a great treat for my kids after a cold rainy walk home from school. I substituted International Delight's Chocolate Mint Truffle creamer for the half and half. It was a hit! Apparently I'm the best mommy in the world.

Smothered Green Beans
I cut down the green beans (about 1-2") and boiled them in a separate pot then added them to the skillet the bacon cooked in. I also drained most of the bacon grease before adding the garlic, beans, and salt and pepper to taste (I ommitted the onions so the children would eat them). Finally I allowed everything to simmer for just a few minutes so the flavors could blend. They were a really nice alternative to the greenbean casserole on Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin Pancakes
These are a perfect fall treat. We make them for all our house guests during fall and winter visits.
