Like others, I had never attempted to make an apple pie before this. Now it will be my signature dessert! The grannysmith apples (tossed with a pinch of cinnamon) were perfect- crisp and not too sweet. The best though, was the drizzled lattice crust! Definitely use all eight apples, even though they look like they won't fit. The pie does settle while cooking, and when it's done, it's just the right size and packed with apples, as it should be.

Until yesterday, I dreaded making the mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving... thanks to this recipe, they were the best dish of the day! I followed the recommendation of another reviewer and covered them in the CrockPot with a brand new kitchen towel- perfect! I also omitted the butter figuring my guests could add it if they so chose. I left the potatoes in the pot for 2 hours on low and then the warm setting through dinner. This recipe allowed me to interact with my guests during those normally hectic minutes just before dinner is served. 5 stars for taste and 10 stars for convenience!

This was fantastic and it could not have been easier to make! I made it exactly according to the recipe, including the sour cream, cheese, and crushed chips. My 5 year old son and husband both had multiple bowls. This very well may take the place of my favorite chili recipe. Thanks so much!
