I cooked my first major meal for my father's 37th birthday when I was only 12! I made a florentine rice stuffed crown roast and baked his birthday cake from scratch. My family was speechless! My mother only helped me with the knives and the hot pans. I saw it all on a cooking show one day when I was sick and stayed home from school. I just picked a couple pounds of roma tomatoes from my garden and wanted to make a homemade sauce . . . I added way too much balsamic vinegar. What a waste of beautiful tomatoes!
