About this Cook
I'm a college student trying to not live on a diet of Ramen Noodles, Mac & Cheese, and HotPockets. This is my journey to really learn about cooking and hopefully find some tasty meals in the process. I want to spread the word to other college students that they don't have to live by a microwave and take-out!
My favorite things to cook
Anything that takes few ingredients, basic skills, and is of course tasty! I specialize in trying to find simple recipes to share with my fellow dorm & first-apartment brethren known as college students.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's Tea-Ring that she makes for a special breakfast during Thanksgiving and Christmas! It is a perfect cherry-raisin-walnut glazed sweet bread that is wonderful warmed.
My cooking triumphs
Anything that comes out tasty and is a hit with the boyfriend go under this category!
My cooking tragedies
... As I'm a new cook, cooking tragedies happen quite often. However they are mostly due to experimentation which only helps me to learn more!

Baked Ziti I
Loved this recipe. Easy, simple, and most of all tasty! The only change I made was leaving out the meat because of vegetarian guests. I'd recommend this for a good hearty dinner at home.

Fast and Friendly Meatballs
Good basic recipe with a lot of room for addition to make them unique and even better. I used plain breadcrumbs, italian seasonings, parmesan cheese, garlic salt, fresh pepper, parsley, and some diced onion. Cooked as directed and then simmered with canned sauce for an easy Spaghetti and Meatballs.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
The cookies themselves taste wonderful. This is definitely one of the better cookie recipes I have tried. However, when following the given recipe I find that there is not enough flour, my dough consistently comes out much too batter-like. But with the addition of extra flour the cookies come out much fluffier and more round. I also found it very helpful to refrigerate the dough for a while in order to get a better shape. This is because the dough is much easier to ball in your hands right out of the fridge instead of when it is first made and warm from you kitchen/oven heat. Overall I love this recipe. I used a combination of peanut butter and milk chocolate chips and left out the nuts. They were eaten up very quickly by my roommate!
