Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
Absolutely fantastic. As with many of the other reviews, I was skeptical about using instant pudding, but low and behold this has turned out to be some sort of super weapon for cooking making. The best chocolate chip cookies I've ever eaten. Just great!!!

Asian Orange Chicken

Pretty good, but would be better off putting the chicken in the fridge after flouring to hold the breading...

Beef Tacos

ANYTIME you see a taco recipe with ketchup just move on. Seriously, this is terrible and a travesty. Yuck. Stick with cumin, garlic, maybe some paprika and fresh cilantro and you'll be wayyyy better off.

Vienna Schnitzel

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
Very good recipe. However, it is REALLY important to let the cutlets sit in the frig after flouring for 20 minutes or so. It gives much better staying power for the breading to stick. Also, watch using store bought spiced breadcrumbs (e.g. "italian seasoned breadcrumbs")...plain breadcrumbs then seasoned with a bit of parsley, garlic, salt and pepper work really well. Finally, pork cutlets work just as well as veal--it's purely dependent on your taste. Pound them thin and you'll be sure to book them quick and easy. Tasty!

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
I think any time you are using pan drippings the gravy tastes excellent. However, if you only use the flour amount called for, no way is it ever going to be thick. Use about 1.5 tablespoons of flour per cup of liquid. Also definitely don't forget to degrease the stock--putting it in the freeze for a few hours immediately works to bring the fat to the top if you are in a pinch for time.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
I was incredibly please with how this turned out. I cooked two birds yesterday using this recipe and they turned out perfectly. However, don't use the 180 degree methodology, 165 is fine and is what's recommended by the USDA. All the meat is white and cooked through and is really, really moist. Just fantastic and easy recipe.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Wow, absolutely fantastic!! I am not sure the sugar and cinnamon coated pan is really a necessity, but other than that it is really good. I had 12 people over and we had tons of good food -- it was the first to go.

Super Al's Cocktail Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Fantastic! I'm in Sweden temporarily and you can't buy the typical "cocktail sauce" here, so I was forced to give it a try. I actually bought Heinz Chili Sauce instead of using ketchup and it turned out fantastic! Chili sauce is very similar to ketchup here, and if you can find it in the US gives it a much better start than ketchup.

Wow. I was a bit surprised at the rating looking at the ingredients and thought I would give it a try. Whoa! I'm a chili fanatic and it takes a lot to get me to change, but this did it. Fantastic chili!

Chicken Piccata II

Easy and absolutely delicious. In order to ensure a good coating, double the flour mixture and double coat it, ensuring you leave in the frig for 30 min or so. Also, if you love lemon, double the lemon in both the broth and egg mixture. So juicy, it really was amazing!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
Definitely a good recipe, but I would suggest using your standard California raisins and not golden. Additionally, I added a little nutmeg and cinnamon, which really helped the flavor. Lastly, some people have said it needs a little more sugar--I agree but added a few tablespoons of maple syrup instead which really turned out fantastic.
